Good god man, why are you torturing yourself like that?!
I know what you are saying, but one of my bucket list things has always to pick up a car on new registration plate day. I doubt I will get a new car so close again so choosing to tick 2 off the bucket list in one go - Cayman GTS and New Plate day! It will be the longest 3 weeks though - albeit friendly OPC happy for me to keep popping in and drooling.
beer you have more will power than I do!

Thanks guys!

Colour was a headache choosing, was going to go carmine red, but so glad I went with the Agate Grey, detailing gets done in a couple of weeks, couldn't be more happy with it. Already been offered above the book price for it. But think it could be a keeper. Total strangers have even been coming up asking to have a look.
Very nice!!!

The CGTS AND BGTS seem to be stunning cars, regardless of colour. As many say, what the hell would you change it for??

I gave it a bloody good clean and polish this afternoon. Got to know some of the nooks, crannies and curves a little better smile

Really pleased with our spec choices 8)

The dark Carmine red, platinum Grey wheels and black gloss detail round the car, were options that we wanted to make it look a little more special smile

That's lovely, I am not normally a fan of red cars but that really works! Enjoy her!

The size of those rear discs are pathetic.

I'm sure their 299mm diameter will prove sufficient for me.

I'm really suprised we ended up with a red car too! Once we'd seen it though, so glad we did!
Had to have the Platinum wheels to go with the red though :-)

Do be sure to let us know how long it took you to cook your own Cayman GTS's brakes on track.... wink

Granted the brake discs look small but they are very effective on the road. Great looking car we are very lucky people..

I have a Cayman R, mine are also pathetic. Pennypinching by Porsche. Gonna upgrade to GT3 brakes I think...

My mate have a brand new GTS, 4 laps on the track and they went all mushy. Granted, he is not the most experienced tracker, but still...

Don't forget to ask for the Care Kit on collection, I was lucky enough to wangle indoors and outdoors covers too (by taking Porsche finance, so I paid for them in reality). The indoor one is nice enough but the outdoor one is not up to the Specialised Covers standard.

So far I am in love with the noise and hot and cold with the PDK. The bucket seats have turned out to be perfect for my shortstop, not exactly fat frame. The 3 hour drive home resulted in not a twinge of back pain or a wish for more adjustment. Plus on a quick very, vey bumpy B road thrash yesterday the X73 suspension was more controlled and less crashy than the 118D M Sport I had as a daily. And as an extra bonus no scraping on any of the speed bumps in the crummy town near where we live! Woo hoo

These are cracking cars, just amazing.

So someone of indeterminate skill managed to shaft a road car's brakes on track. And it seems you haven't driven one on track yourself. Hardly a definitive judgement I'd say. I'm not trying to be contrary, but it may have been better to say that the brakes look a bit small aesthetically speaking in which case I'd be inclined to agree with you smile

I'm getting my steely braked Boxster GTS on track in one week, so will report back then. On the road they've been more than adequate so far. I can get 7 good laps of Bedford SEN on my 993's standard brakes before they go, and frankly, if I can get the same or more from the Boxster I'll be happy smile

I was hoping this forum wasn't going to be like the majority of others with bickering. Each to their own I say.

Carbon brakes for me for the engineering, someone of my age is in wonder at the technology available on usable road cars and it means a great deal to me to stare at it on my drive, even knowing I'll almost certainly never use the (possible) extra performance.

Steel brakes with saving of £4995? Hard to argue with that.

I personally love the PCCB's, I was also lucky enought to test the cars with Steels and PCCB back to back along with the X73 and PASM.

However, for me I found the PCCB's have a lot better peddel feel which I found added to the driving pleasure of the car. This is only my option of course.

Another Rob ex 1er owner here :-)
My last car was a Birds B1 / Quaife equipped 135i. Although that car was seriously capable on all roads, but this is one X73 Cayman is another level entirely :-)

Agreed!! This has been my favourite thread on PH. We have all shared the excitement of our new car arrivals and our pleasure at owning them. To date it has been very gentlemanly and decidedly enjoyable.

Long may it continue!! thumbup
