By now you should have been allocated a build slot ie Oct, Nov, Dec I would you suggest you have a friendly word with your OPC, they usually take £3k as a deposit up front when you order, then when the car goes into build they ask you to make the deposit up to 10% of the value of the vehicle, sorry if teaching you to suck eggs, communication with OPC is important and they are all crap at it.
It's ok, I paid my 3k over 6 weeks ago. Not had any communication since, apart from driving experience to book in.
Maybe I missed the boat now, if that's the case then so be it. I will start my search for a nice second hand one, but as the only new car I have ever ordered it will leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Will see what they say tomorrow, hopefully I will get some answers.

Cheers,
Jay.

So would it be normal for the dealer to accept a deposit for a car he does not have a guaranteed allocation for?

Seems a bit unethical.

It would seem so.....
OPC and I had a long chat about it yesterday.

No guaranteed allocations until Q1 2016 and no confirmation that cars will be Flat 6 or 4 Pot turbo. Unofficial testing in SA last week and feedback on 4 Pot turbo was very good.
OPC thinks that there will be a few Flat 6 allocations given out in Q1 but then a switch to new setup around Feb / March 2016 builds. Should see first of the 981.2 models in late April/May.

Again, nothing in black and white so cannot give 100% answers. Says enquires for BGTS and CGTS are still very high and would be able to sell many many more than the allocations given. Seems very odd that Porsche are determined to make the switch over to new engine.

He did mention that he has no allocations for 5 models In the range, must be a pain in the arse for the sales teams.

I was at my OPC the other day and he said the new 981.2 normal and S will be 4 pots, but the next GTS and anything above that would be be a Flat 6. I guess only time will tell.

I pick my CGTS up next week - more than ready now - I have been and seen it in the flesh - gorgeous is all I can say. I would upload some pics if the limit wasn't 2mb! I need to learn how to shrink the size.

On allocations, I had my deposit in for a while with my OPC before i got one, it seems every quarter they get allocations, and sometimes they get surprise additional ones, so I reckon if there are any left for a Q4 build you will know in around 4 weeks time.

Let's wait and see kazandy, good info though.
It appears from many conversations, that non of the OPC's actually know what is happening yet.
Not a bad marketing plan for Porsche, but terrible for customer relations.

If that is true, good news for the NA F6 '981.1 S models (especially PSE equipped, farty 2nd gear versions, like mine), which will get dragged along with the GTS as 'last of the line, must haves' - got future classic writ large upon it. wobble

Oh no, I've drifted into "what's is worth" mode - better go stand in the corner!

Haha, most cars only go one way unfortunately !

I know what I want and don't mind waiting for it, I wouldn't really care if it was worth £5000 after 5 years.
It's just the fact that I can't have what I want. It's just a waiting game now.

I just want to hear that flat 6 with pse, ringing it's nuts off round europe.

After all the comments and helpful advice, I'm still bemused by the whole Porsche ordering experience.

Not always, espically when you're not expecting the tail to side out as I had the other day. That was more shock and a oh crap moment rather then fun. biggrin

Thankfully, there was not a big drama as its a case of quick reactions and a handful of oppsite lock. biggrin

I have pretty much read all 156 pages of this topic and it is really interesting looking at everyones spec's that they have chosen. Also i always get great service from porsche sheffield which it seems a few of you don't. I got a great deal as i buy lots of cars from them and I ordered mine in July and it is coming in october so not a massive wait, i got the last GTS of the year, all others orders are being taken for next year now from about april onwards i believe.

i have chosen,

BGTS
PDK
sapphire blue
platinum satin wheels
bose
PCM
heat seats
GTS exterior pack
fold mirrors
dimming mirrors
F+R PDC with rev cam
cruise
bluetooth

Debating over the GTS interior pack but at another 2k its already pushing the budget as it is.
Big debate over the X73 as well but think i'll stick with PASM as it is going to the the everyday car will do at least 10k per year in it. Plus the other half has an A45 so if want to knock my fillings out then i'll just take that!
Another big debate is the bucket seats but my girlfriend is 1ft 2 so no height adjustment would be a problem.

Would like your thoughts on the spec though?

Only thing I should have added to my spec was 'climate'.

Hi Portland,

I also placed order at Sheffield OPC in July, but must have missed the allocation, never mind.

Spec looks good but I would definitely go for the GTS interior pack.

Why not look at not having the following :-

Folding Mirrors
Reverse Camera
Heated Seats
Cruise control

That would go a long way to paying for the GTS interior.

Parking sensors are fine without camera
Folding mirrors are only really needed if planning to park on a busy road
Heated seats are really a personal preference
Cruising is easy with PDK, not really needed.
(All my own thoughts anyway)

I dealt with Oliver Cooke, he was really good and very helpful.
Congratulations on your purchase.

Jay.

I would add X73 no problem on roads and surprisingly no problem on speed humps (slowly.

Same here for the buckets if they had height adjustment its a no brainer. I have the 18 way adjustable seats and with the bolsters adjusted just as good as you can place the seat exactly to your own specifications and other half only has to press the memory button for seat and steering position.
