Buckets are great, I was worried as I could only try them in a BGTS at PCE, but for my slim shortarse (5'-6") frame they are perfect in my CGTS and no backache at all on a 3 hour commute. But I've always found bucket seats more comfortable than standard seats.

Welcome to try mine if you're ever in deepest Norfolk or Kettering
The real problem arises if (as I very often find) you are unable to open the doors fully. Access is an issue even with the standard sports seats then - and I'm a similar size to you. For the same price personally I'd go for the 18 way adjustables with easy out. Unlike the buckets they adjust for height, which is an issue for me, and might well be for many if their other half is small. I know they are heavier, but I think on a car as heavy as the Cayman, you can get overstate the significance.

I might take a different view if my car was tracked and a weekend toy - but it's a DD and on track I prefer something much lighter and more focussed with a fixed harness.
This kind of illustrates how even for two people of similar stature the choice is entirely personal. I've never found a problem with ingress and egress and the standard seats in my TTRS, BMW 1 Series, Scirocco etc. all gave me backache. -I swapped the TT seats for Pole Positions with fixed mounts and thereafter felt comfortable even on all day drives.

If you like bucket seats the Porsche ones are good and the folding back helps with storage behind the seat. If you don't like bucket seats doubt these will change your mind.

Really you've got to try them I suppose.

(Plus on the odd times you get to throw the car around on the road I find you feel more connected to the car).

Thanks, the only thing I might be tempted by is the buckets but I cant find a car anywhere to have a sit in that has them...

Is the sports exhaust £360 option not included as standard in the GTS? i assumed it was but can see it unticked on my config
It's all very personal, but if I were you I would skip the GTS interior pack as I don't think it adds anything but excess bling. I would go for Yellow seat belts instead, just as smart if not smarter, and painted bits to match the exterior colour is much sharper look than the carbon fibre. For a bit off show spec the fire extinguisher. All relatively cheap. PTV probably a good idea. I deleted it after someone on here suggested it would increase tyre wear, and I'm sure the car will be good either way. I know that it takes you over your limit but PCCB would look great create less dust and reduce unsprung weight. I decided against buckets because a. The standard seats are very very good, and b. I felt that the lack of adjustability would be an issue for me on a long trip. If it fits you it fits you. They do look A1 and imho a better investment than 'GTS Communications Pack'. I take it you have cruise control. I also went manual, and did not opt for sat Nav as I have a Garmin unit with built in camera which I prefer and can record my road trips.

GTS int's pack makes the car a GTS, it means it gives that special feel and appearence as moving from a normal F430 to 430 Scuderia. Customers will see the difference in their car value in future: people will ask for GTS pack.

I don't like it, but it's a matter of taste. I don't like the very intricate Turbo alloys which so many people put on GTS models, I don't like the carbon detail on the dash unless you put a lot more carbon in to match, and I don't like the seat belts edged with red, which to me is just unnecessary fussy detail. Every time I see a car like that, it shouts footballers wife at me, and it always has PDK. Also, why go for a lot of red stitching and internal detail if your car is yellow? A GTS to my mind is a sports model so it should be minimal. The standard GTS stitching on the headrests in black is more, dare I say masculine, than the red. Just my personal view. You can get away with one, as Dunc has with his white Cayman, but the effect of everything is Glitzy.

To me, the GTS exterior pack is much more of a signature option, but it would be boring if we were all the same.

Unless you are planning to chop the car in pretty quickly for the next model, in which case Speed Yellow might be something of a Marmite choice, I doubt if the precise spec will have much impact on value. Further down the line, if it's a GTS its a GTS. If you are going for a bold colour like the yellow, I think that you need to have the courage of your convictions and take the yellow theme into the interior. As far as quality goes, the standard GTS interior is pretty good, and most importantly it's not overdone.

I think GTS interior and exterior will be desirable in the longer term for second hand purchase as they separate the car from the regular models. I didn't spec the latter though as the shiny black just didn't fit for me, preferred the matt colour. When I did factory collection there was boxster gts there with the shiny black bits on the outside and after close inspection I was happy with my decision not to spec

Hi Mario - when did you do the factory collection, and what colour was the Boxster?

Separately, I think it's very easy to slip into speccing options with a view to resale to the point that you don't buy the car you want. I am omitting PDK and Sat Nav because I don't like them and don't want them. Current consensus is you absolutely need these for resale.

PS I was looking at a F458 and an F458 Speciale side by side today and the standard 458 interior to me, wins hands down, though i admit the Speciale did look functional, though with too much patterned cloth. From a distance the Speciale looked more impressive, but that was because the owner had specced it without the bonnet stripe.

Looks like a model - is that tilt-shift effect or do my glasses need cleaning?

The one with the shiny outside was carmine red, and mine is DBM.

I think the whole speccing for resale thing is a load of poop when you think about it really and a trap we all fall into a bit. If you bin PCM and PDK, you're what, £4.5K up? There's no way on earth that you'll get more than £4.5K less for it in say 4-5 years time when you move it on

+1 went for SB. Look amazing IMO. Also went of high gloss black bits, which for me set it off the black very well.

Just came back from the PEC testing a Cayman GTS. Apologies if this is going over old ground but I wanted to share some thoughts on my experience with all you good people.

Firstly, I tried the GTS PDK. I had ordered a manual but was willing to give it a try anyway. The car I tried also had PASM but not PTV. The instructor (not surprisingly) thought it was a waste of time. The experience was great. Much better than I anticipated and the PDK was a revelation. I tried the car in all modes on all parts of the circuit and it did exactly as you directed it. The balance and sharpness of the car was incredible. I've driven a manner of different cars on the track before including single seaters but the Cayman's control is sensational. The only trouble I had was on the kick plate though I did deliberately go faster to test the limits and 360'd it. We took a break mid way through the day and I was really thinking to myself whether I needed all that power in my life. As a road car, you can probably get 95%+ of the same feeling from the standard Cayman. That thought was a surprise to myself. Over a coffee, I was genuinely considering getting a base Cayman and save myself money. The PDK was also a real surprise - you can really drive the pants off the thing without worrying about selecting gears. Impressive.

The instructor pulled a few strings and managed to get me a manual GTS with sport suspension. The first impression was not good. The car felt heavy and still and for the first few corners I kept feeling this scrubbing sensation in the tyres. It felt like lots of understeer. I even let the instructor drive a few laps so that I could assess it myself and it definitely felt the same. To add to my woes, the changing of gears was a real challenge after the PDK and my downshifts were really unstable and jerky. I was having doubts about this car now....

Until the instructor turned on Sport Plus. OH MY GOD! You have to get this car in manual just for the Sport Plus. You don't even have to drive it fast - it's just glorious. The downshifts are a ton of fun. I also realised the understeer was just me going too fast into corners and also having the PSM on which didn't allow me to compensate. With PSM in Sport Plus (or off), it was a hoot. The instructor had to tear me away from the low friction track as I was pretty much a crazy hooligan on there. But no matter how I tried, I couldn't get the car into any serious problems. The control in a slide was a sensation. I loved it!

Aside from that, I got to check out all the colours. Greys and blues and blacks are anonymous in the car park. I was surprised how much I liked Yellow. But Guards Red is the winner. It just looks better in my view compared to Carmine and is probably not going to get dated quickly. When you see a Cayenne in Carmine, it just doesn't look like it has stood the test of time.

I also saw a number of Macans flying around the track which a GT3 failed to keep up with. Maybe it was the driver but you have to be impressed with the Macan despite the hairdresser/school run look.

Anyway, I know the Guards/Carmine dilemma for me wasn't unique so I've put some photos up for you all to judge for yourselves. Apologies for the poor photos. I have a low tech phone and the sun was blazing.

Sounds like you had a blast!

Guards doesn't photograph too well, but I also preferred it in the daylight at PEC.

I like sport plus with the auto blipping (tested on spyder) but I also like that you can turn it off and perhaps learn to be a better driver (one day!).

Funnily enough when I was at PEC for my BGTS test drive the auto blip on the manual really got on my tits after a while! And I just couldn't stand the long(er) manual gearing - never spent more than about 3s in 3rd at a time in the manual car while I was there which for tracks designed to emulate road driving really put the nail in the manual coffin for me and reinforced my PDK choice. PDK not as interactive as manual, but a better choice for me as it does what it says on the tin perfectly, rather than being a seriously flawed version of what could have been an epic manual gear changing experience had they chosen not to give it daft ratios which would have just bugged me perpetually.

If you're going to track the car, I wouldn't discount PTV, my experience with in on track at Bedford the other week was positive, but I do think it's a bit pointless on a car you'll only drive on the road as I didn't miss it at PEC

For what it is worth Carmine Red was my 2nd choice... after Racing Yellow :-)
