So has anybody got a new GTS coming in the next few weeks ? Or what exciting things have you been doing with your GTS that you can tell us about.
We collected our BGTS from the factory in July and did a 9 day road trip in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France on the way home. We're now in the middle of our second trip which is 2 weeks in it in Spain which comes after a track day in it 6 weeks or so ago just ticked over 3K miles yesterday, all of which bar 600 or so have been on our euro hoons Bonus piccy of some rather tight parking I had to do in Seville today....!

Enjoy your new road trip, post up pics if you can please. Bonus piccy of some rather tight parking I had to do in Seville today....!
You can get some small discounts. I managed to grab one when I ordered mine but
got fed up of waiting after sticking a deposit down for a CGTS way back in July. Decided to go for a heavily specced used one instead with a full 3 yr warranty saving about 7k off my intended build and about 16k off the actual spec.
Am happy because I think having a brand new one would have been stressful trying to keep it clean or being dinged etc for the first few months!

Just heard that my CGTS build is due for completion mid November so should be ready for delivery at the end of the month. A few posters on here do seem to have secured January builds for March delivery (my original plan) but I did not want to risk missing out!A few weeks ago I managed to get a cancellation slot at PEC so went up to try a couple of cars with different chassis, brake and seat options. Both were great and the difference not very pronounced but the steering felt more responsive on the sports chassis car, which is what I have ordered. Standard brakes seemed fine and I have spoken to a couple of owners who track their cars regularly with just uprated pads so happy with that route if needed.
I actually preferred the standard seats over the 18 way adjustable as they go almost an inch lower at the front. Another friend found the 18 way seats uncomfortable on very long runs for the same reason.
The PTV was very noticeable on the tight circuit and going around in circles, but unfortunately trying this out made me feel very queasy so I had to stop my session early. At least my other half got to drive the car with a professional sitting alongside and experience the kick plate and the handling circuit……
I’m now researching insurance options and most are requiring a tracker. Is that the general situation and is it best to go with the Porsche approved version?
Now just a question of sorting out the finance and making space in the garage!

I'm surprised at that - mine's "only" an S but none of the quotes I had required a tracker. I have only used price comparison sites - Money Supermarket in particular. I'm in Bucks, maybe very different in higher risk areas I suppose.Edited by bcr5784 on Sunday 18th October 08:36

Same here, I was advised yesterday that my BGTS should be ready for the end of Nov, so I've already done some preliminary exploration of the comparison sites. For Exmouth in Devon it's looking circa £550 with £250 voluntary and £600 mandatory excess, but no requirement for a tracker... with Churchill and Privilege being the cheapest (I have no plans to track it).Edited by bcr5784 on Sunday 18th October 08:36
The bit that had worried me was the fact that we're currently longish term residents in a hotel, while the solicitors do the conveyancing on my new house, so I had declared the hotel as my address and stated that the car would be left in a Public car park day and night... I was worried that this fact would bump it up big time, but where you keep it seems to have naff all influence on the price compared to the postcode. I ran the same quotes, but switched between car park and garage and there might have been £10/£20 difference.

Somewhat bizarrely I found it cheaper if I left it in the drive rather than in the garage (but not on the road). I can only assume you are much more likely to ding the car putting it in the garage, rather than have it nicked when it's outside. I really wanted a GTS and was really disappointed that I missed out on the June/July allocations. After I put down the deposit early July, that's when all the rumours of "no more flat 6" started circulating. If I had the chance then to take a slot, I would have done so without hesitation. Fortunately, I now have a late November build with delivery expected late Jan/ early Feb. OPC says he will keep it until 1st March for collection.
I wonder how many allocations have been given out for next year, I don't think it will be many.
Jay.

Be careful you don't invalidate any Porsche warranty if you fit a non-Porsche tracker. Read this somewhere...A few weeks ago I managed to get a cancellation slot at PEC so went up to try a couple of cars with different chassis, brake and seat options. I have an order in for one, and multiple sources at the OPC all agree that it I should be ok and would get it end Q1 or beginning of Q2. Had my experience centre invite too, bit I am deferring setting a date until I know definitively when the car will arrive. Not discounting that their information is wrong however. They tell me they will know more regard time-scales at the end of the year. Until then, I wait and see :P
Hope that helps.

When I was asked to go into OPC last week, it was to put a build together. I have an allocation now and it should lock in a couple of weeks. My Porsche experience is on 2nd November, so this should be good timing if I feel I need to add anything I like or remove anything I don't need. Not discounting that their information is wrong however. They tell me they will know more regard time-scales at the end of the year. Until then, I wait and see :P

Would you not be better doing the same, at least you will know what options you want. Also, I rang to book my experience week 3 in July, November was the earliest slot they had. I have been told of another guaranteed allocation for a January build, but I'm not sure if this has been taken up. May be worth a call if you want to PM me.
Jay.
