Not that I've noticed.l to be honest. In fact on the upshift in a straight line you lose the little whip crack sound in sport+ as it slurs the change to give you the thump in the back!

No exhaust sound difference in modes as far as I can tell. The only difference is if PSE is on or off, which is very noticeable.

So in a manual car, what is the difference between sport and sport+? The PSE is on in sport+ and the down shift rev blips, is that it?

The new 991.2 GTS has been spied and it's got the new 3ltr turbo engine: http://www.total911.com/exclusive-porsche-991-2-ta...

I'm therefore guessing that the 718 Cayman GTS (when it arrives) will follow suit and be a four pot turbo like the rest of the range. The only hope for a future NA Cayman will be the GT4 by the look of it.

So the only NA GTS Cayman will have been the 981 version...

That's a dispointment really but it was inevitable that it was going to be no different from the other cars in the range. It does beg the question though what to upgrade the 981GTS with and nothing at present seems to float my boat other than a GT3/4. Then there is the issue of getting one, so that does sort of force you to look at the 2nd hand market or look towards the 991.2 GTS.

At the moment, I'm not completely sure what to do.

For me, only a new GT4 would tempt me to trade in my CGTS - assuming I could get one. I can't afford a new GT3, nor would I be allocated one if I could I suspect, so that's out.

No other manufacturer makes anything comparable to an NA Porsche any more, so I would struggle to find anything I'd like.

I think the CGTS may stay for a very long time...

I've been having the same thoughts. No idea what to replace the gts with! As I've been pushing the car harder and harder on track, I've decided I really like it. Since I'm not prepared to pay a premium for a gt4, I will probably be upgrading the wheels, tyres and suspension along with sticking a pair of proper buckets in complimented by a half cage and harnesses. Yes it's marginally underpowered for tracks with lots of straights, but it's so well balanced that with a few choice mods I think it will be even more engaging in the bendy.bits. Not a huge outlay for a step change in performance.

On a slight aside, I've just had both suspension top mounts replaced under warranty as they were rattling - it sounded like my dashboard was creaky. Very annoying, but easily rectified without major issues. I was also losing coolant from the coolant cap (in the boot) which had a faulty seal. I was told both of these issues were "Porsche aware" so you may want to have a look at your own cars coolant levels over time.

Great combination, but I would say that. Here's a tintop that Justin prepared earlier.
He did a fantastic job, the dirt seems to run off the car

Out of curiosity, I've just done a quick check on CGTSs for sale:

  • 8 at OPCs
  • 11 non-OPC dealer sales on PH
  • 1 private sale on PH
  • Cheapest is £56k, most expensive is £68k
Riding on the coat tails of the GT4 perhaps, but the oldest car (a 2014 model at £58k) has certainly held its value well based on asking price.

A situation to keep an eye on I think...

The 997 gts prices have held up well so there's no reason to suggest that the Boxster/Cayman versions won't as well. I think this will be further helped by the fact that they are the last of the limited production non-gt n/a sixes as well.

Thanks for this, very good to know.

I was offered 70K trade in for mine, only a few months ago. So its holding value very well at the moment, as I expected it to be worth alot less.

£70k? Blimey, is that over what it cost new and effectively a discount on a new purchase?

She was £79,001 on the road from the dealer and I paid list for it, it would have been more if the car would have been PTS but that was a even longer wait than the 6 months I waited for the GTS. So I have lost some but I was expecting it to be way more to be honest as I was expecting 45/50K after a year.

Sounds about right for a dealer trade in then, still pretty good. I forgot yours is a very high spec.

I'll be keeping hold of mine as long as I can, and will throw everything at it to keep it in A1 condition. We won't see cars like these again, they're the last of the line.
