I'd say it's too pricey, even if it was an OPC car, as it's towards the lower end of the spec range. It's not highly specced enough to be a 'cruiser' nor does it have the right options for a 'tracker':

- stock wheel/colour combination, no GTS interior, no other cosmetic niceness e.g. carbon or painted interior
- no phone connection, no air-con, no cruise control, no auto wipers, no electric mirrors
- no X73/PCCBs/buckets/PTV for the track guys and gals

It's around £4k overpriced, if not more.

So despite the low mileage (6000) are you saying £58k is too pricey given that it's a non-OPC car or low spec, or a combination of both? I can see it doesn't have LWB's or a GTS interior pack, what other options are considered to be desireable?

The base price for the car is £54568.00, i'd say the things which are effecting the price is that its a non-OPC and its of a low spec. Its looks like its being sold at what the car was new if not a little more when you cost it all out.

GTS Interior Park and Carbon Buckets are both £2000 + options, which add value IMO.

Id say its worth around £50,000.00 / 52,000.00 with the age and options but its only what someone is prepared to pay at the end of the day.

After reading this long thread I think I should make my first post!

I have never been a 911 fan after driving a 996 model from getting out of a M3 CS which simply handled (and in my opinion did everything else) so much better. After driving a late 987 Cayman S I was smitten with handling and the flat six experience, just at the time 2012 it felt a little dated.

When first seeing the 981 Cayman in 2013(?) I thought that's the car for me, one day I will have one. Working hard, 18 months ago I decided to buy a 981 CS a base manual model 12 months old. What a car, the handling is sublime and the flat six noise above 5500RPM is fantastic. Whilst I missed the creature comforts (no climate control, phone connection etc) I have not driven another car which is such a complete package and I'm not scared to use (V12 MPG).

In January upon hearing the 718 news of 4 cylinder only mid engined Porsches I was shocked. I have a 2013 300BHP turbo MX5, this cost me approx. £20K, why would I want to spend £48K plus for a 4 cylinder turbo Porsche, the flat 6 noise and the engine character is the second best (handling first) part of the experience! A Porsche sounding worse than my MX5 was not me.

I toyed with the idea of an M2 shortly and then thought but what if I could buy a new GTS. My local OPC were unable to help so an email with a spec was sent to all dealers. One came back and had an allocation that could be changed to my spec, so the deal was done. A manual with all the options I wanted, should be with me 17th. I went a bit over the top as it looks like this will be a keeper.

Is anyone else still eagerly waiting their GTS?

Actually I quite like the stock wheels on the GTS.
The neither 'cruiser or track' spec makes sense. I know with my CS it was heavily specced towards track and is the better car for it imo.

I like the stock wheels too, but in satin platinum.

I think 'S' models were crying out to specced for the track, but the GTS got more luxury bits as standard so it makes more sense (to me) to make them more of a road car.

Not sure why everyone is saying it doesn't have the GTS interior pack as it looks like it does to me?

And it's carmine red which was another option.

It's not fully loaded, but I wouldn't say it's low spec.

At the risk of being annoying.....

What exactly is the interior package?

I'm trying to get my head round things and to reconcile the absence of even quite basic options on some of these cars with my desire for a more pure, honest driving experience.

Those OPC cars, currently 8 for sale.....are they overpriced?

They seem to be asking almost new money for them......they're certainly not shifting in a hurry.

GTS interior pack gives contrast stitching in either silver or red on the dash, centre console, doors and seat belts and GTS on the seat headrest in the same colour. This particular car doesn't have it.

I thought the gts logo in the seat was silver but hard to see. The stitching looks to be silver to me and would the car get all that alcantara on the doors and dash as standard?

I guess what gives it away is the lack of carbon fibre on the dash and doors in retrospect.

The average person wouldn't notice though, I have a gts with the gts interior pack and I struggled to tell the difference, thought this was the silver version with all silver seat belts instead of the stripe.

My bad

Here is the example in my car.

If any one want's a really stunning Carmine Red Boxster GTS my one has gone to Rybrooks in Birmingham (Hockley Heath). It only went over there on Friday last week and they said they would be putting it in their showroom for sale. Already really missing this car!!!

They do have a fabulous GT4 in there too along with several other real beauties...

Why did you decide to sell? Not much out there that competes at the price point. Lovely car.

Can't say I don't miss my GTS...wish I could have kept them both. The GTS is such a brilliant car that I can see me going back to one very easily. Not at all interested in the 718 but the 981 with the sports exhaust and PDK is just special in sound, comfort and everyday drive-ability. You guys all know how fabulous this car is whether a Boxster or Cayman truly is for the price. The McLaren is just harder to drive but just much more involving/special.

Have a close look at one Andy, in pictures or on paper it's hard to see, unless in the flesh, how amazing these cars are.
