Thought some of you might like a couple of cars shots I had done last night. They're for a friend's forthcoming book 'Cars of Bradford'. He's shot a few others in the series which you can take a peek at over on his website - http://www.carsoftheworld.photos/

Anyway, hope you like them. I thought the retouching was pretty awesome and a nice memento of the car in years to come.
Looks great!

I was just wondering over the weekend, what do i get next, in this price bracket is there anything else apart from the 718? Which does absolutely nothing for me. If one wants an N/A motor will we have to keep the GTS models forever? Id like to change every 2/3 years but the only thing i can think of is the Spyder, but the manual roof just seems a pain in the ass.

Whats everyone's thoughts, anyone else thought about this?

I know I'm stating the obvious, but the Cayman really is a beautiful car... very nice photo (still happy with my Boxster though!)

I will be keeping my CGTS forever. There won't be cars like them again IMHO, and certainly not for £60k new.

I must admit my next car may well be an older car, assuming I get bored of the Cayman.

The new turbo stuff isn't that interesting at all as things stand, I do wonder if a gen II 718 engine may get a little better though.

I'm booked for the late afternoon slot @ 1515 but if I get there early enough, might still catch you there.
Will be interested to make the direct back to back comparisons myself between my GTS and the 718.

Has anyone traded up from a CGTS or BGTS to a newer model i.e. 911 model, if so how are you finding it (Pro's or Con's)? As I am starting to thinking about the upgrade options or if I keep mine for the foreseeable future. Ideally a GT3 would be my ultimate aim as I have been watching them with a keen eye but I have quite a specific set of requirements when it comes to the spec of the car (PCCB, CS etc...). As I understand it the 991.2 GT3 is due soon, so that could mean more GT3's due to the market soon. I did drive a 911 GTS a while ago and found it seems to flex more than my car but I don’t know if that's due to the addition of the sunroof but it’s hard finding one in the correct spec again PCCB's & Buckets etc....

The car it's self is really just a weekend toy and isn't really needed as a daily driver but I have reached out the OPC to see what they have or know about.

I know CBE has on here and his comments and reviews on the upgrade have been very postive.

Not a GTS, but for an idea, I have gone: 987CaymanS, 997C2S, 981CaymanS, 991GTS, and 718CaymanS on order.

The 991 was a step up in performance no doubt, but as an overall package, and not having any need for the rear seats the Cayman is the better all rounder for me, and feels just as special with the right spec.

Pound for pound, even a modestly specified CarreraS is 6 figures whereas a very well specified CaymanS or GTS is some 30-40k cheaper and it just isnt that much "worse", and in some respects I find it superior; certainly more confidence inspiring to a non "racing driver god" like some in here!

I've gone Cayman GTS - 911 C4S (991) and then back to Cayman GTS. The 911 just didn't do it for me; I really regretted selling the Cayman and was lucky to get the last GTS order slot at my local OPC. Next car for me will be a Boxster Spyder I think.

Thank chaps for your opinions, I am of a similar line of thought at the moment. I will enquire about a loan car while mine is in for a service, as it will give a good indication to see how I get on with the platform. However, I have grown to like the styling of the 718 now but its just the engine but I guess again I need to see what this is like from the seat of your pants rather then read and judge according to what’s written on the internet.

The main thing I don't want to happen is move to a new car and then think over the coming month’s I’ve made a mistake as I highly value my GTS.

Each to their own on the engine; just get an extended drive and make your own mind up; I liked it. Different of course, but I liked the extra torque too. Better for more of the time in the real world IMHO.

Definitely get an extended test drive of the 718. I drove the 718 boxster and loved it, the handling and performance is a step on from my gts and I ordered one. However. I had it for a long weekend and once I got used to the new handling I got bored of it. It's a brilliant car and incredibly competent. However once you were used to it it didn't have anything to keep me interested. I can see why people prefer it over the 981 but I can equally see why people prefer the 981.

I then drove the 718s and the engine seemed to have more character and even more speed so I've got that for an extended test drive sometime in September.

I feel very much the same way about it as I did my golf r. Fast and technically competent but it never got under my skin and made me want to drive it. It's the first time I've had a demo car on the drive and I've not gone out for a proper drive because I didn't really want too. My boxster gts would get taken the longest route to wherever I was going.

If I don't get on with the 718s I'll be looking for another boxster gts

Very interesting, thank you. Do you still have the GT3? As I know I have spoken about the upgrade before and I am aware that more GT3's will be due the market soon with the Gen2's on the horizon. As they seem to come out around the same price a highly spec’ed C4S so there is a number of options.

I am sort of starting the process now, as it takes me ages to come the conclusion on what's next.

I’ll see if I can get an extended drive of both cars once mines due for its first service and I think that’s key as for one, I’ve never really driven a 911 for any length of time.

Yes I still have the GT3, it won't be going anywhere. It's brilliant. I've just updated the other thread. The boxster is still the better everyday car. BUt if it is my weekend car (i believe yours is) the gt3 all day everyday. The only thing replacing my gt3 is a manual one if they bring it out.

As a weekend car is the GT3 not just to fast for the road? I always wanted a GT3, but my Boxster GTS is a weekend blaster, and through the back roads i normally drive through it seem way fast enough. If i was doing more track work then I would defiantly want a GT3, but right now mostly tight twisty roads the BGTS seems to be great. Coming from high power cars i can tell on an open stretch the GTS is not as quick as id like........maybe the Boxster Spyder will be. I think id miss open top driving if i went GT4/GT3.......

First world problems hey lol.
