Thanks for the ideas:
...options...spoke nicely to the OPC salesman and he printed out something from an internal system and emailed it to me smile:

088 GTS PACKAGE, INTERIOR
250 PDK TRANSMISSION (PORSCHE DOPPELKUPPLUNG)
429 20" 911 TURBO III WHEEL
446 WHEEL HUB COVER, FULL-COLOUR PORSCHE CREST
454 CRUISE CONTROL
608 GARAGE DOOR OPENER (HOMELINK) 433 MHZ
631 SPEED LIMIT DISPLAY (TRAFFIC SIGN RECOG.)
632 PDLS+ (DYNAMIC HIGH BEAM)
636 PARKASSIST (FRONT + REAR)
666 PCM 3 - TELEPHONE (GSM)
680 BOSE SOUND PACKAGE
840 SPORTS STEER. WH. (PDK W. PADDLE)
P13 AUTOMATICALLY DIMMING MIRRORS WITH INTEGRATED RAIN SENSOR

...insurance:
- Locktons are £50 more than Porsche plus they insist on a tracker at about £300 plus £150pa (plus PCGB membereship which they will pay for the first year)
- Classicline are calling me back as it's a "future classic" (on my say so) so need to make a call to someone else first
- ...so saga still ongoing (and probably not going with Saga!)

I see in other threads that the 911 GTS 991.2 will be a 3 litre turbo, so that to me guarantees that the 718 GTS will be a four pot turbo not an NA6.

It seems the 981 GTS may well end up as a future classic...

Alot of things being said right now, but this article does say the 718 GTS will remain 4 pot, and the GT4 and Spyder will stay as an NA.

I do not fully believe this can happen though... the GT4 will have to be at least 0.5 secs faster to 60mph (and generally faster all round) than the 718 cayman s to make it appreciably faster and worth the difference. The trouble is that I do not know of an NA engine porsche currently has that can be that much faster than these new 4-pot engines (look at the 'ring times between GT4 and 718 CaymanS). I think the GT3 GT3RSs will start having the same problem... NA engines are already struggling in the performance department (think 488, 650s, Ford GT). Interesting to see how porsche will deal with this issue.

Given the way the availability/allocation of GT cars is going, and the inflated prices of used GT cars, the 981 GTS residuals should be good in the future.

As a purely road-use car, I think it'll occupy a nice niche as the last and arguably best NA6 Cayman.

I'm with you on this one, I personally see Porsche moving to Turbo engines on all future models. But they can extract more power if they desire from the 3.8, its 101hp/ltr, Im sure they can get that to 105 - 110hp/ltr, question is will they want to.

Agree with this, it is the last of a special road car.......

Just to close off my insurance tale before I go off to enjoy my "special/last of a kind road car smile"...
- I went with Porsche/Marsh/Aviva
- Classicline was very slightly cheaper but as they don't keep or rely upon a NCD of any sort, I felt I would be exiting my NCD that I've been building up should I come to change. Also they couldn't be definitive that they would allow me to choose an OPC/Porsche-approved repairer.."it would depend on discussions at the time" was the best they could offer
- .. but I'll re-evaluate that at the next renewal.

Thank chaps for your opinions, I am of a similar line of thought at the moment. I will enquire about a loan car while mine is in for a service, as it will give a good indication to see how I get on with the platform. However, I have grown to like the styling of the 718 now but its just the engine but I guess again I need to see what this is like from the seat of your pants rather then read and judge according to what’s written on the internet.

The main thing I don't want to happen is move to a new car and then think over the coming month’s I’ve made a mistake as I highly value my GTS.
I have a BGTS 981 and recently attended the PEC and drove the 718s. For me it lacked character, probably mainly due to the lack of the 6 cylinder engine, the wonderful noise it makes with the PSE, and the linear power delivery. The 718s made me think of a hot hatch in Boxster clothing, rather than an open topped sports car.

I'm thinking the same. Defo a keeper. There's no other Porsche that meets my needs better. And now not likely to be either.

My sentiments entirely when we attended the PEC for the 718! Great car ruined by a crappy engine. 'Maybe Porsche should have named it Boxster / Cayman GTI rather than 718!

Bernina Pass in Switzerland has been a blast. I really enjoyed using the PDK for the first time, and the car sounds amazing. So happy.

A proper Alpine tour in a proper sports car!! I've done something similar a few years ago in the 987/1 Boxster S we had. That car must have seen every part of France, Alps and Northern Italy! Probably our favourite of all the sports cars we've owned, even if our current BGTS is in every way a better car. Must have a repeat tour soon!

The pictures look incredible Boggleman! I am currently in the process of organising our honeymoon for next June in our CGTS and we're going to do a two week epic European road trip. Plan is to take the ferry over to Santander, then onto San Sebastian, Pamplona, Barcelona, Greolieres, Lake Como, Davos Switzerland, Baden-Baden and finally Ypres. Should be epic and we're spending a couple of days in Davos so we can drive the Furka, Grimsel and San Bernardino Passes.

Looking at your photos from Davos, we are weirdly looking to book the same Sunstar Parkhotel so I'd be interested to hear how you got on with the hotel (in particular if the parking is ok) and what roads you took your lovely BGTS on whilst there.
