This is a really good thread for a comparison between PCCB and steel:

Interesting, and good to see a bit of physics behind it as well. I think it's probably just confirmed what was the general consensus anyway from a performance point of view: Better but well into the realms of diminishing returns, especially for a road biased car, even if you ignore the money side. That said, I guess you could say that about a lot of Porsche engineering, so in that way PCCBs aren't over the top. I personally just struggle with the initial and replacement price for them. If they were a £1500 option and cost twice as much to replace as steels, I'd happily fork out using a bit of man maths. But since they're not and the steel items perform so well already, they still wouldn't make it onto my order sheet, even for a GT3 I suspecthttp://rennlist.com/forums/987-981-718-forum/97180...
I'm with Mario - minimal gains for substantial initial and replacement cost. Same goes for the 1.5kg a corner weight difference and the minimal inertia gains. For a purely road car the risk of having to replace disks due to a stray stone made it certainly not worth it for me, and there's no substantial handling benefit.

It's that time of year again, insurance renewal...
Does anyone have the number for Porsche Insurance Services? I'll be trying all the normal people like Manning etc....
Aviva currently have the best quote but most won't provide a official Porsche replacement windscreen.
In case you're after a policy with unlimited Track day cover included, Lockton can do it and they've priced matched Mannings for me a couple of times from memory.Does anyone have the number for Porsche Insurance Services? I'll be trying all the normal people like Manning etc....

I tried Locktons and Mannings last year but as my CGTS is my only car the premium was £750+ more than Direct Line, even with my really low mileage. I decided to ignore the Porsche windscreen issue and pay for it myself should the worst happen, and that way I'd still be ahead financially. It's worth checking what the difference is between Aviva/Direct Line and Locktons/Mannings to see if that's the case for you too. Obviously if you need track cover then the specialists will be a better option.
I'm currently with A-Plan (Broker) at the moment as I am waiting on my renewal to arrive. However, after the hassle I had getting my windscreen replaced (Auto Glass) and then finding out I could get this replaced at a OPC made things a bit easier and it also keeps the warranty in place. Unfortunately the underwriter I was with under A-Plan have pulled out the market so I have been informed and i'm only being given options for a 3rd party replacement.
I've just checked against the normal comparison sites who seem to be coming at around the £600.00 mark.
I'll give Lockton a call for a quote and I am waiting on a call from Manning.

Give LV a call. I couldn't believe how cheap their cover for my brand new BGTS was last year.. And yes......I asked all the questions regarding genuine Porsche parts/workshops. I can't remember the exact figure but it was only marginally more for my £83k GTS than the renewal on our 7year old Mazda MX-5!

£83k on a BGTS? Is that even possible?!wellzee said:

I wondered that.
PDK, ceramics, burmeister, PTS would be a start, but after that?
I went a bit nuts on the options, including Burmester and PCCB,.......and then I started inventing my own! I did an Exclusive leather interior (I know.....heresy to many doing anything that isn't GTS interior in a GTS!) that I was ripped off for but I love it anyway. And the cars a daily driver and a keeper. Man maths at work!PDK, ceramics, burmeister, PTS would be a start, but after that?
Good for you pal, it's your car after all.
I don't get people saying that the GTS interior package make it as a car, but don't spec PTV. For a drivers car the latter, to me, is vastly more important than, as I see it, frippery.
What ever spec you personally want is correct I reckon.
Any pics of the exclusive interior? You've sparked my nosey instincts!

Thanks for that. I agree....my car, my money my choice! I certainly kept my head down on that "most pointless options" thread though!
I haven't taken any good photos of the interior since I got one of the finishing touches done (I changed the Luxor carpet over to black.......can you believe the factory wouldn't do it!). I'll try to post some photos in the next day or so.

PTV seems quite a rare option - it was a must for me too, along with the GTS interior of course...Flyferrari said:

Psssh ... you want pointless frippery? I've specced having the word 'Cayman' embossed on the armrest for £132.
The other half thinks I'm insane. But then she paid to have her initials embossed on her leather Chanucciversaceberrywoteva handbag so she can piss right off.
