For info the exhaust tips should be a warranty item. I know they have issues on other models and are replacing under warranty. They tend to start spotting after 6-9k miles ;-)
My car is going into Tewkesbury on Monday so I'll ask them about the exhaust tips and will report back. I wonder how they replace the tips though? Do they just cut them off and weld in some new ones?!?

Re: PASM, I have gone from a 2015 Audi S3 saloon on 19's which had multiple 'modes' for ride, throttle etc. ON my daily commute, there is a divot in the road as you come off a bridge that is unavoidable. Even with the S3 in it's most supple settings, it made me wince every time and I had to drop to a crawl to avoid feeling like I was going to break the car.

With the CGTS in normal mode, it's almost like they have repaired the bloody road! I still slow down, but the crash and jump through the car is practically non-existent compared to the S3.

For that alone, the PASM has won me over. smile

curious as to whether anyone has considered downsizing - or has downsized - to 19" wheels?
so that's definitely a resounding 'no' then smile

i too have X73 which i prefer to PASM from both a handling and styling perspective but occasionally i do wonder what the ride would be like on 19's.

it's a shame Porsche don't offer different sizes for the various wheel options.

I think PASM got a bit of a bad name on the 987 (far too stiff in Sport for the road seems to be the problem - though not tried it myself). As you say, superb on the 981 and the nay sayers seem less vocal than in the past - hard not to be impressed if you have actually tried it.
+1

The ride quality on the PASM 981 is nothing short of amazing given the wheel size and the surface quality of some of the roads in my area. Yet it gives up nothing in body control.
Big improvement in real world on-road PASM performance from my 987 to 981. Very supple and controlled, and if you are pressing on a bit even in normal mode it firms up just as much as is required without becoming too hard and being bounced off your line. In Sport mode there is none of the jiggliness of the previous generation, and it still only firms up as required.

I deliberated for ages over X73 vs PASM and drove cars with both set ups at the PEC at Silverstone and on surrounding roads. For me, I ended up going with X73 and I do love it, enjoy driving on the track and I'm happy to put up with a very firm ride on my cars. I can see exactly why it's not for everyone though so wouldn't knock anyone that chose or wanted PASM as it gives the car a great changeable personality at the flick of a switch and in 'normal' is much more comfortable than X73. The good thing about the cars we drive is that we have the choice to make them the cars we want......
I opted for PASM in the end as I like the dual personality and somehow it felt better VFM in my head, but my first GTS test drive was a car with X73, have to say it was very impressive. I had driven to the test drive at Porsche West London in my old 7.1 GT3 with PASM on "Normal", and the X73 after that felt like bliss in comparison - firm yet plenty comfy even on horrible Chiswick/A4 area roads. Conversely, the loaner poverty spec Boxsters on non-PASM dampers I had last year at a couple of points felt awful in comparison (they were on 20s as well). The high speed damping on bad roads seemed far too stiff, lots of vibes coming through the chassis

I had the same experience as you with a 2.7 Boxster running non-PASM dampers. That was Black Edition loaner so had 20's and I thought given the ride height compared to my X73, it would be more comfortable but it was nowhere near and yet didn't have the same resolute body control either.

Very nice spec BGTS and M5 combo you have there too Mario!!

beer Unfortunately I think I will be putting the M5 up for sale soon. Awesome car but it's not getting enough use to justify keeping it as we can't put the dog in it frown

Beautiful car Andy! I'm loving mine after a year of ownership so it bodes well that smile remains just as big after another 12 months. How much was your first service?

Thank you. The total cost came to £579.98 which is think is pretty reasonable.

The fixed price service cost is £485, so what did you have done over and above that?

That doesn't include a brake fluid change, which is also due at the same time.

That's great Andy, I think that's really reasonable too after 2 years of fun!

If anyone is looking for a fully loaded manual Boxster GTS mine will be up for sale with OPC Tewkesbury in the middle of the month, just having the plate changed over and a Topaz wrap done on the GT4

Am in the process of getting my CGTS booked in for it's first service, what are peoples thoughts on getting the air-con recharged, £200 seems a little steep and to me and is it totally necessary...

thanks in advance!
