Hi
Having recently had my Spyder go through the 4 year service I was speaking to the service guy about their used car prep, they offered me a full valet, machine polish with Swissvax products for under £200. My Spyder is well looked after but as its black it would be nice to get rid of the light swirl marks general cleaning has left. I've done the clay bar etc a few years ago which had amazing results even by hand, but I'd like to treat it to a bit of a top up professionally.

Has anyone taken their car through this process at Porsche? I know there are great detailing companies out there but Im not looking for the full £££ experience as the paintwork is still in very good condition.

Experiences appreciated.
Simon

mrdemon, not sure, I got the impression they have someone 'come in' and do it. I suspect direct would be a lot cheaper maybe as the mark up for all things Porsche are silly but having the come back to an OPC / Porsche if something isnt right/satisfactory does help with peace of mind. There is always a horror story somewhere obviously.

If it was me, i would type in Google "car detailer Hampshire " and pick one of those instead.

I would never do it, my selling garage offered a £300 "expert Autoglym polish"

It will be subbed out to a guy who polsihes it for 30 mins, charges £100 and then is marked up 100-200%

Why when a detailer will spend 6/7 hours on your car doing it properly for £300-400

I doubt a £200 dealer session would achieve what you're after. Swirl marks are something that they usually manage to *create* when polishing.

Use a dedicated detailer, directly. You'll be much happier.

Thanks guys, does anyone have recommendations in Hampshire/Berks/Surrey area and proven results for their own car? I have heard good things about Autofarms detailing...

Having been through endless situations with regards to paint condition and cleaning recently (with a Golf, not a Porsche I should add); you'd be 1 million percent better off enlisting the services of a professional detailer and paying around £300-£400 and getting the full treatment. Your car condition might be great, but you'd be amazed what a detailer can do, and there is little chance that a valet/detailer that visits the garage will do anywhere near the same level of work.

Swissvax is an incredible product, but only when applied correctly. If it is used over the top of a fairly basic clean and minimal polish you will have wasted your money.

Go and ask on detailingworld who is recommended in your area.

Maybe too far for you but I have used Kelly at KDS Keltec in Gillingham Kent. He has done a number of cars for me including a brand new Lamborghini Aventador with appalling paint job by the factory. Just be clear with Kelly what level you want to go to.

I had the £500 Swissvax treatment before I took delivery of my Cayman by Guildford OPC I thought a good way to start with a colour I said I would not have 'black'. But in sunlight not what I had expected with swirl marks particularly noticeable on the bumpers. I should have taken it back and had a moan but i didn't and just enjoyed a brilliant car. I did redo the bumpers with the top up kit supplied with much better results than theirs, the supplied Swissvax wax was also only the basic one.
Two years on and the first service and I opted for the Swissvax top up for £150 as part of the service. Why I expected it to be better I don't know, but it wasn't, just a wash and re-wax.
I wish I had taken it to a dedicated company and had it done properly.

I'd try to find someone that is recommended in your area (Envy Valeting in Hampshire if your profile is up to date). A 2-stage correction can cost around £250 on a medium car and is only as good as the person doing it. But then you need LSP on top. A very reputable detailer will charge more but I've been quoted some crazy prices as well (£800 for 2-day detail).

I'd take time in choosing the right person and not just use the OPC for it. Have a look at KDS ( http://www.kdskeltec.co.uk/) website for what to expect from a top outfit along with prices you can compare against others.

Had my Spyder looked after by Nick at Detail My Car in Newbury; fantastic job (he's often recommended on the Thames Valley board on here). Also one of his contacts replaced my stickers at the same time, you'd never tell them from OEM and almost a quarter of the price of even just buying them from the dealers

No affiliation, just a happy customer

Not a detailing recommend but one for new decals if yours get damaged .This company do them for a fraction an OPC would charge ..highly recommend them .

OPC wanted £300 for a set of side script for a Spyder .PDS charged £50 posted.

I use Paul Dalton at Miracle Detail, based at Dunsfold Aerodrome near Godalming.
You'll probably spend £500-700 with Paul. He's not the cheapest, but he is without any doubt whatsoever, the best there is, absolutely top of the game.

I had OPC reading do mine in Feb when it went in for some minor work, they charged me £180 for exactly the service you just described so I decided to give them ago, the car came back pristine, did they do it or sub contract it I have no ideas.
