I remember seeing alot of the US chaps on plant-9 would paint the surrounds of the front fogs of their Gen 1's black. They looks so much nicer...makes the front grills look nice and big...rather like a 996 C4S/Turbo.

What colour was your Gen 1 Cayman, Mr D?

Original quote for napa leather was £120 but then I changed to alcantara and added green stitching and the matching 12 o'clock ring and the total bill was £140 and took a week to do.
They also offer a replacement wheel service if your car is a daily driver.

Been quoted £50 to get the handbrake and gearshift gaitor done in matching trim
can you give details of the company you used fella?

Seriously like the idea of that grill but not sure I would be brave enough with the dremel tho

Yes made slightly thicker and added the thumb grips. Seems very good quality so think it will wear well.
I kept the original and bought another wheel off eBay for £80 which was re trimmed

You've done a neat job on that. Agree re the mirrors. The Gen 2 mirrors are huge!

Yes very easy to fit, just need to disconnect battery 15mins beforehand (airbag reasons) then pop the air bag off and remove the wheel with a M12 spline tool (if yours is a 987 that is) like this ;

Just had the IPE (Innotech) valvetronic exhaust fitted, here is a quick clip of the car being started up in the off position, then in the open mode half way through

I bought it from a guy on here who was an agent for IPE and this was his new demonstrator that has never been fitted. I got it for a grand but I believe they are about 2k retail. I have looked at getting the matching manifolds but they are astronomical at £2.5k

The Indy that fitted it said that it is by far the best sounding exhaust they have heard on a box/cay

The "black" treatment continues, just received the side vents back from the paint shop. Here's the before and after shots;

That looks the business! Wonder what a green lip on the wheels would look like. And blacked out fog surrounds. It's good fun spending other people's money...!
