BOSE on 981 is significantly better than 987 BOSE.

BOSE is good for Boxster because you can wind it up with the roof down and actually hear the music.

The good thing is that you seem to be making the right choice re the car (well almost as in the video he reviews the cayman...)

Rarely saw SS so enthusiastic about a motor smile Makes me doubt I should keep my GT3 order and instead just one of these...

Loses a bit of credibility with this wavering over the gearbox?

Firstly, I think the 'GTS' has been conceived as the most sporting Boxster model...
Well I think it's being *marketed* as that.

Although he acknowledges that it's partly spec-related: sports suspension, PCCBs, buckets. Seems to be how Porsche are supplying the GTS press cars. See first point above!

Interesting that the weight is quoted as being lower - is that just the buckets?

Look's great though.

Useful video - Boxster or Cayman, I'd want 6-spd manual, Ceramics, PCM, Buckets over Adaptive seats, PSE and a few fripperies.

I would pass on the PCCB probably.. the standard brakes are so good already I doubt the PCCB can add that much to it.. and think about replacement cost.. on a 458 or even GT3 I could understand that the owner spending 120k-200k could think about 10k for the brakes.. but on a Boxster/Cayman ? If you need to replace the discs on a 3yr-old car that could be 30% of the value of the thing !

And yes.. if you don't track you should have them for a long time... but chipping of discs happens even if not tracked.. and then you would be facing the bill. At that point you can only go ceramics if you want to keep warranty and re-sale value.. or switch to steel and then kiss goodbye to warranty extension and thus potential resale value.

I would really try both on the open road and think if it's worth the extra expense/worry. A good number of GT3 come specced on Steel for a reason......

I think the pccbs would be brilliant on a GTS road car, not just for the braking performance but the weight saving, handling, and all the other benefits. I doubt if you would ever wear them out on a 981 road car. They are bound to have contributed to the overall positive packaging on SS's test car.

I just wish that the bucket seats came with height adjustment as had to order Boxster GTS with electric adjustable sports plus so other half can drive as buckets were too low for her.

Delivery mid July.

i have done not much other than look at the GTS this past week! amazing looking car and amazing spec, and a saving over the S if you like the options it comes with.

PDK vs Manual, i am not sure on. I love the idea of paddles, but dont use them much on my M235i actually and would go back to a manual in a second. Its good to hear people wanting a GTS in manual, as my concern over resale would be PDK would be a must so nice to hear i may be wrong there.

In terms of interior, i love the standard leather / alcantara option, i think dropping the alcantara in a gts is a real shame. Personally it would be carbon bucket seats and keep the alcantara but again its personal choice.

In terms of PCM, i think thats a must on a £50k car, and again, even though it might be a "purists car" although its no R, i think PCM is still a useful and worthwhile addition.

For me i would save some cash elsewhere, and go manual, alcantara buckets, pcm, bluetooth and electric mirrors. I would love carmine red too but £1500 is a lot for paint thats not that special. now if it was £1500 for mexico blue...

I had set my heart on Carmine Red but after seeing a Carmine Red Cayenne at Porsche Silverstone on an experience day it’s quite dull and in the sun it gives off a slight pink taint!!!

So after looking at Sapphire Blue, GTS silver, Agate Grey, I went for Black no metallic.

I asked my instructor regarding PDK v Manual and in good Porsche fashion he said PDK, speaking to a few others on the day they were all told the same.

For me I spent the morning in a manual with carbon brakes so both are on the final spec.

my experience day had me in a PDK with carbon brakes, and i must admit apart from ice hill and skid plate where i used manual to keep it in 2nd i had it in auto all day and it was alot less "seeking" than in my M235i.

PCCB brakes were amazing too, but i cant justify that much on brakes haha.

I havent seen carmine red in the flesh, guessing the cayman at the porsche centre (inside the showroom) is guards red?

don't forget the £2015k GTS option which make it look like it does !!!
Biggest con of the car imo who's not going to want the GTS pack on a GTS ?

Wow is that right!?
Thats well shocking! yikes

So if you chose not to spec the GTS option, would it just look like a normal Cayman S?

the press cars (Cayman) which are getting the ravs reviews are about £76k that's a lot of money.

no, inside you get alcantara wheel, part alcantara seats, alcantara dash etc as standard and GTS emblems on seats.

The GTS pack adds contrast stitching and the carbon parts and coloured dials and seat belts.

you need GTS pack for GTS emblems on seats :-)

as I say for resale you have to have the pack imo once you have 50 cars to choose from every one will want GTS pack at resale.
and most will want it new also.

doh, reply failed to post.

You are correct.

I think i would rather have leather / alcantara carbon buckets and GTS interior for £4k than the £3.6k extended leather bucket seat option on the S
