Seriously want a Boxster GTS
Discussion
I am not a fan of those wheels, or dark wheels on light / bright cars, and lack of the GTS pack on a GTS.
But like I said it looks like a great car, I think the 981 boxster and Cayman look great and I am sure you will love it.
Like you said maybe the proceeds from selling the previous car softened the budgetary blow.
I am going to have a play on the configurator now, just cause I find it fun

Thanks for responding. I was unhappy not being able to spec the internal GTS pack (you'll note the external one is there). Sadly, I have forgotten what the internal GTS pack selection stopped me from selecting elsewhere, sooooooo I am having GTS embossed on the central arm rest and the Porsche emblems on the seats. Nearest I could get. You'd think at these prices they'd be a bit flexible, but alas not. The wheels did take some choosing (the basic ones are crap in my opinion). It seems i might regret the black, and maybe should have left it out. So hard to decide when you can't touch and feel the options yourself. I am in Guernsey where we have no Porsche dealer, so that didn't help...
It's nice still to get excited about things at 53 :-)

Well I take it back mr cobble!
having played around with pretty much my ideal spec (without going silly) I decided I probably wouldn't spec GTS interior package either as you cannot have a leather interior with it, and I love the grey / black bi-colour leather. Although if serious about ordering I think I would go and look at a physical car with all the GTS alcantara bits and maybe would change my mind
Mind you I also wouldn't get the GTS exterior package which seems to just paint some black bits with black paint!
Would try PDK before speccing

Sold my Vantage last year mainly due to not enough use and specced up a Boxster GTS with most of the options 3 weeks in and its getting so much use.
We were in Guernsey last Sunday (to Tuesday do not mention the ferry crossing) seen lots of 911 on the roads and a couple of early Boxsters.
Boxster is narrower and more fun when driving, I still have not seen the MPG above 23.

Am enjoying this thread, particularly the debate around what to spec or not spec. It took me a week to settle mine. At the end I got a bit stuck on colour and whether to go for the sports suspension. Eventually settled on racing yellow, and sports suspension. My GTS is currently being built (allegedly). Without speccing anything extraordinary the final price of the car can get very hairy! FYI I have shared my spec below. I am now wondering whether black painted 911 wheels were such a good idea... Sadly I had to forego the internal GTS pack because of another option I wanted which precluded it (forget which now). Similarly the Alcantara went due to another clash of spec. Note, PCCBs are not included, mainly because I think they don't add that much edge, and also, please see total price of car at the bottom!

OK, so there were a couple or three small extravagances in there, but it puts into perspective the prices quoted when the vehicles are being marketed/tested and the real world price when you spec one to, say, a similar spec to an F-Type Jag where most of the above comes as standard!
My AM has gone and I am driving the Freelander for now so I hope they hurry with my build!! (But do it well ;-)

That sounds like a lovely spec, but I am going to have to cap myself off at around 60-65K on the total price, and there is some lovely options you have there, especially the PTV torque vectoring, I have debated on dumping the PCM system and having that instead I was advised by the sales-person not to spec this umless I was a track-day goer, but I had the locking diff on my old 928 S4 manual and did like it when powering out of junctions .
I am slightly jealous of your spec, but I hope you enjoy it, I know I will when I get mine!

It does seem a good deal, and when I did the comparison it seemed like a steal, or as much of a steal as you can get with a Porsche The half alcantara interior really lifts the interior in my opinion, I wanted the yachting blue leather, but after taking soundings on here realised it was a bit daft.

Cheers for the responses. Sorry I missed seeing your lovely black gts Shifty. Looks lovely. My v12v average 14mpg so I will happily take 23 ;-) I hope your car was not damaged on the crossing,
Adam. I had PDK in my Cayman R and loved it. The dct was like a formula one race change and the sound somewhat addictive. Being not the slickest of drivers not manually changing helps me focus on steering and not hitting things.
Thanks for the comments on the spec Husky. I realise it is a bit ott and likely to cost me on trade in but part of it is me trying to spec a car for keeps rather than my expensive habit of 12 monthly changes, something I cannot afford to keep doing.
Should anyone have a gts and also be coming to Guernsey. Please let me know so we can meet up.
Might sell the Freelander 2 when the gts arrives. Bit surplus. 3,500 miles, white, xls spec. Just had first service. Mint....
Looking forward to more gts piccies as people get theirs delivered. Will do same soon.
Regards
Paul
