New Boxster 2.7
Discussion
Just taken the plunge and bought a Boxster 2.7 ...with a great spec. Tell me, does the rear diff option really add much to the car? It is very well specked apart from the steering wheel....but I'm very happy and I pick it up next week.

Only thing I want to change is the rear pipe for twin pipes. Is it better to get the dealer to do it or to change it myself via an exhaust centre
Thanks
Nick

Congrats on the car. I drive a 997 Turbo coupe but I owned two Boxsters previously a 986 and a 987. They are fabulous cars and I'm toying with the idea of buying another for my daily (miss the roof down aspect).
I had a white 981 2.7 PDK from OPC Wilmslow recently whilst my car was in, and I loved it. Was so nice to get in a soft top again. I enjoyed it so much that when they called the same day to tell me I could collect my car, I asked if I could keep it until the next day I was having so much fun!
Enjoy your new motor. Also check out Boxa.net for a good forum with all things Boxster.

If you track it, yes. PTV isn't just brake-steer. It's brake-steer in addition to a mechanically locking limited-slip differential. Without PTV, you have an open diff. The base Boxster has a fair amount of tire for the torque the engine produces, but it can be as slidey as a Mazda MX-5 if you're deliberate with it. As a result, if you drive the balls off of it, or do autocross/track days, the lack of an LSD will be noticed. Though again, considering how much tire the car has, it should be perfectly manageable -- it's much more noticeable on an S.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
