Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forums to please be nice!

I am on the lookout for my first Porsche. After a bit of thinking and test driving of Caymans and Boxsters I've pretty much settled on the idea of a 2.9 987 facelift model - or possibly an S if budget allows. I like the thought of the extra reliability (that I've read about) and the improved performance and interiors.

My question is...how much do Boxster values change from summer to autumn to winter? My company car goes back this month and I've got the cash to buy now but I am really struggling to find the right 2.9 model. Prices seem high to me with the sun being out right now. Would it be worth waiting 6 to 8 or weeks? I have the opportunity to borrow my dad's old Fiesta for a few weeks! Would I save a great deal if I waited or does no one tend to sell anyway during colder months?

And if anyone is thinking of selling their early facelift 987 please do message me!

Thanks.

I've only been idly watching prices but they appear to have gone a little mad at the moment. For example there are a few example of my Porsche for sale, which are older and have done more mileage and yet the asking price is £1000+ more than I payed for mine, two years ago.

Soft top car prices always go up in a good summer so you will save if you wait. However will you save enough to make the wait worth while (which is the point of your post smile) I'm not sure but I my gut tells me yes - Unless you really love open top motoring.

Yea prices do seem to be high and there seems to be a high variance across the UK and models as well. You can basically see £2k or even £3k difference for practically the same car in two parts of the UK.

I think I'm of the opinion that if the right car comes up and the price isn't insane I will buy it. I will just need to wait a little longer and not be tempted to buy something that isn't loved or doesn't have my couple of must-have extras.
