Although it looks like I've missed the summer now, I am looking for a good 987S. So far I've seen quite a few nice cars, agreed a deal on one which then failed an inspection, and missed a few that looked really good on paper, so I am still looking for the "right" car. There's no rush, but it would be nice to find one soon.

The must haves.... Basalt black paintwork, black leather interior, PCM/satnav, heated seats, xenons, rear parking sensors and a full service history (not necessarily OPC, good independents are fine by me).

Nice to have would also be... PASM, Sport Chrono, PSE, 19" Carerra Classics, Bose, extended leather, sports seats with crested headrests, the 3.4L engine and a sport steering wheel (I know some of those can be retro fitted).

I am looking for a 2006-2008 car, with up to 50k miles, and have cash waiting for the right car. I'd love one that has been looked after by an enthusiast too, but I do recognise that there are relatively few of us!

If anyone wants to sell such a car I'd love to talk, or if you can point me in the right direction of one I would be grateful.

Thanks
G

Pity you want black because an RS60 has all the bits you need as standard but it's Gt Silver with a red interior. I'm sure cars with that spec exists but I had a hell of a job finding a car with all the things I wanted which coincidently is exactly what you want too.

+1, you may have to search for a long time to get that sort of spec.

Like Birma, I looked for ages to find mine, then had to compromise on some stuff I would have liked. Problem I had is the search for a decent 987 was forced on me by someone who totalled my (very high spec) 986 S, which had most of the options list on it.

In the end I sourced a lovely 987 S in Atlas Grey, with full OPC service history & 18 months warranty remaining (which was a must for me being of a nervous disposition!!). The only big thing that mine didn't have was extended leather.

Took me a while but I got there in the end. Also I did two things I thought I never would - I bought it privately instead of through a specialist & bought a London car.

Good luck with your search, they're awesome cars.

Does it have to be a Boxster? I've got a 987 Cayman S which ticks almost all of the boxes.

PS.

Dont rule out Atlas Grey as a colour option if you want black BTW. Our late 987 was this colour and it doesnt look anything like a grey - very dark, black most of the time with a very slight blue to it in certain lights..

That one's no longer available, sadly. Really nice car, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for either.

Thanks for the tip on Atlas Grey, it is lovely, but I have a 997tt in Basalt, I love that colour and I'd like a Boxster in the same colour.

It doesn't matter if it takes a while to find, I have plenty of time, and the search is part of the fun :-)

Thanks
G

Hard to answer... it depends on the car, condition, spec, mileage, etc.

For a good 2006 3.2L car with a good spec, about 14k.
For a well spec'd 2008 3.4L car then about 17k-18k, at the higher end if it is immaculate and has been well maintained.

Anywhere between the two depending on year, spec, etc.

I've got an '07 3.4 Sport Edition in basalt black with all of your must haves and nice to haves, except for extended leather (only on the centre console), and headrest crests.

It's also got coloured wheel crests, wind deflector, dension iPod/Bluetooth, cd changer, short shift kit and electric seats/memory pack - as close to a 'full house' as I could find, or have seen since!

Currently on 54k miles and I've been thinking of selling as the car won't get much use for the next six months as I'm too busy.
PM me if you're interested.

Check out the Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1. It has everything you need with the exception of heated seats (unless the first owner took it as an option. Oh, and it's not a convertible! You didn't actually state which car you preferred.

Doh! My mistake, I keep forgetting that the Cayman is a 987 as well. Why did Porsche do that?

Anyway, I am looking for a Boxster. I've a 997tt too so I don't need another coupe, even through I appreciate that the Cayman is radically different from the 997. I'm looking for a roadster.

Thanks
G

As a heads up, the last of the 3.2 from March or April 2006 fall in to the £490 tax bracket, mine is literally 1 or 2 weeks after the cut off and so I have the pleasure of double the tax of a slightly earlier car

I've said this before, but if an additional £250 a year on RFL is of concern, maybe a Porsche is not the right car for you.

+ 1. Porsche will charge you that to replace windscreen wipers.
