As a heads up, the last of the 3.2 from March or April 2006 fall in to the £490 tax bracket, mine is literally 1 or 2 weeks after the cut off and so I have the pleasure of double the tax of a slightly earlier car
Mine's Nov 2005, so I scrape into the cheaper bracket by 4 months .I've only got the 3.2, but it's plenty powerful enough for me.

The VED on cars after March 2006 is not that much of an issue yet, but when the cars get older (early Boxsters going for £3k - £4k now), will buyers be happy to pay nearly 15% + of the car's value to buy car tax every year? It's already having a big effect on cars such as Jaaaags.
I reckon it won't be long before any 55 reg Cayman S model sells much quicker than an '06 reg. If they're common in other respects that is. Seem to be hard to find anyway!

What is the bottom end market price for a 987 3.4S say 50k miles and fairly basic spec - all opinions welcome please. Just debating whether or not to sell mine as had an offer in it but would hate to 'give it away' as no real need to sell it.
£50k.The bubble is on its way up. By the time I sell mine, it'll be £200k.

Just for interest I put my 55 plate 3.2 Boxster S into WBAC yesterday and it gave me a quote of £10.5k. Mine's a reasonably low spec car, but it has only done 24k miles.Have been doing a lot of reading, looking and test driving recently. Genralising massively, and assuming similar condition, average mileage and service history.....
A 2005 3.2S is around 12-13k on average, a 2006 3.2S is around 14k-15k, although there doesn't seem to be many of those around in comparison to 2005 models. A decent '07 3.4S with a reasonable spec and average mileage is about 15-16k as a private sale.
Lower mileage and higher specs can raise the '07 price above 16k, higher mileage and poorer history/condition drops it to about 13-14k.
There's lots of ambitious sellers out there with cars that have little or no provenance, poverty specs or high mileage asking prices above what they could or should get. Realistic sellers that are prepared to price properly and/or do a deal shift their cars quickly. You can also add a couple of k on for a dealer sale too, but from what I've seen those cars can really vary in quality.
The 987's do seem to be ageing well, better than the 986, some of the cars I've looked at are 8-9 years old but have been in surprisingly good condition (well, the bits you can see!)

They're never going to give you a decent price... they would look to move it onto a trader for about 13k and make a quick profit. Better to go direct to a dealer armed with a CAP valuation.G

Wow that's very strong money edo - whereabouts are you out of interest? I've also got a 2007 3.4S - very good condition but not many toys though and was thinking I'd be lucky to get much more than £13-13.5k for it (50k miles and just had major service).

Well, thanks to JimexPL, this one's now mine! Inspected and given a clean bill of health by Bob at RGA Porsche in London, it's a lovely 2007 3.4S (with no scored bores!) with PASM, PSE, Sports Chrono, Sports Design kit, Adaptive Sports Seats, PCM, Bose, and a load of other bits and pieces. Just what I was looking for.
Now that mods... first will be the all red tail lights, then swapping the 19" Sport Design alloys for some 19" Carerra Classics.. then maybe some red seatbelts...
