Hi Guys,

I'm trying to help my mum sell her Boxster, have advertised it on PH but not had any emails yet, just wondering where you guys think it would be best to advertise it? I don't think ebay would work that well, I know I wouldn't use it to buy something like a Porsche as I'd want to feel confident the owner has loved it and has a passion for the car if that makes sense?

Thanks smile

be good to see the advert

is it a nice colour, ie not blue leather

have you listed the dates of every service etc etc.

is it a nice spec car with full history inc a nice colour and black leather.

so many to choose from, bad colours and esp bad leather colours don't sell well 2nd hand. they are only for new PCP hand me back clients.

To sell a car quickly; you need;

Good pictures and lots of them.

A Clear concise but detailed advert. Specific details are much more helpful than how "amazing" the car is or how it's your "Pride & Joy" or that "I looked at dozens before buying this one" or other such tripe that people write.

Sensible price. Actually look at what other similar cars are for sale for as they are your competition!

Not sure if mods will mind me posting a link to it or not, if its a problem remove it.

As for the price we worked on the suggestion of the specialist that has looked after it also the fact it had just had some expensive work done like brakes all round etc.. and service, we felt it fair. If you think it's too pricey some guidance would be great please smile

I'll wait to read comments from you guys on the advert then if needs be try it on ebay, thanks!

Seems toppy to me. I'm slightly out of touch with all thing Boxster, but I think £12-£13k would be closer to the mark.

Why have so many people got a downer on blue leather? You're not the only one to say this. Guess what colour mine is? frown The condition of the seats would seem to be more important I'd have thought, no burns or tears in them.

I quite like dark blue. And my car only did 4900 miles in its first 3 years by the first owner (2003 - 06), unlikely it was PCP.

Edit: I' agree listing is a bit too high IMHO, but with such low mileage, I'm surprised you haven't at least been contacted. Perhaps being tiptronic puts people off?

i sat in a 981 boxster at silverstone PEC with all blue leather and it looked so good, a lot better than the black. i do not understand why people do not like the blue

My take on your car is this.

Guards Red is a marmite colour, personally that alone would count it out for me.

The spec doesn't include any of the really important options to me, I really wanted PASM, PSE, Bose and Nav but out of those I guess the most important to the average buyer is Nav. Yes I know the Nav is st but it doesn't stop people wanting it and it does as a minimum provide a better visual interface for the audio system.

Tiptronic I think would also put off lots of buyers, it is a sports car after all. smile

Sorry as the chap above has said I think this all adds up to the fact that although it looks like a nice well cared for car, it is just too expensive for a private sale, I would try knocking a couple of grand and be prepared to take an offer

Too expensive in my opinion. CAP valuation is £13200 - £13800 for private sale. I'd guess WBAC will be £9500ish or less.

Regards the blue leather caper, my first Boxster (1 previous owner, 58k miles, FPSH) had blue leather. I loved it, it wasn't even full leather! Slumming it big time! My current car has full black leather ( a 550 Anniversary 986) and I can honestly say I preferred the interior ambience of my blue leather-seat equipped 2000MY S! After all, you can get black leather on a rucking Mondeos/Vectra!..

Aside from that rant I absolutely love the 550 Anniversary!

Always 2 or 3 buyers for blue, but 200/300 for black.

As I said if you like it buy it, but don't expect to sell it easy.
Porsche go over the top and make every thing blue or every thing red, it's rank imo.

As for the op car, that's well over priced, just picked up a low mint seal grey s win black for 11.5k for a mate.

Tiptronic does limit the market and the cars £4k over priced

No one cares about new parts how ever daft that sounds, it's the bottom line price people go for.

Also has the big 40k service been done.
