Late 2011 Cayman R.. 4 owners too many?
Discussion
Morning,
May have found my perfect CR, peridot, manual, buckets, climate, black wheels, under 20,000 miles...... etc...
But it's had 4 owners from very late 2011 (Dec car from memory).
I know they can change hands, but is this too many?
I'll be keeping it 18 months so the next owner will be its 6th when the car is 5 years old!
Any thoughts....

Most people buy into the hype and buy these cars as they always want one but the reality is quite a shock to the system and they end up selling them soon after buying them!May have found my perfect CR, peridot, manual, buckets, climate, black wheels, under 20,000 miles...... etc...

They are very easy to drive fast, the gear ratios are all wrong, they make a very compliant B road car and none of them will need a £10k refresh about now
Joking apart, I think if the car checks out mechanically and the history is all correct, dont worry about the number of owners. I never asked the missus about her exes before I married her

My only concern would be whether the car had some niggling faults that had meant successive owners had been keen to move it on.
And it's that, that perpetuates the 'must have low owner' myth. There's nothing to say that a one owner car doesn't have the same niggles that the owner couldn't be bothered to sort out or just didn't bother him enough.
There's an argument to say that the more owners the cars had, the more people have inspected the car and thought it was good enough to buy.....
Low owners, like low miles, matters on the used market, like it or not.
There's always a counter-argument which can only be resolved when faced with a choice between two otherwise identical cars.
You're unlikely to find another suitable peridot cr, so if it checks out, buy it and enjoy it.

I never understand why people give a hoot about number of owners??
I don't think I've ever asked or been bothered enough to look. If the car is what you are looking for at the right price, go for it!
because a Lemon changes hands more than normal so questions get asked and the R is a great car so why sell it on so quick ;-)I don't think I've ever asked or been bothered enough to look. If the car is what you are looking for at the right price, go for it!
tough call but test drive the car do the normal checks and over revs , maybe another 111 inspection etc.
Most cars were dealer ordered so that's 1 owner already, then 1 a year ?
for sports cars 1 owner a year is fine. I am the 3rd owner on mine and had it 18months and the 4th owner on my Spyder and had that over 2 years.

YHM by the way..
I think I'm the 3rd owner on mine - I really couldn't care less how many it had. I've kept some cars years and chopped some in after a couple of months. All were spot on when sold and only went if something else I wanted came up or there was an unexpected change in circumstance. If it's a good one, buy it

I would not be a 6th owner either
every one wants a new car, if you cannot buy new every one wants that mint 1 owner from new car.
as a side note just valued my car with we buy any car at £20k lol if I put 5+ owners it dropped the price to £15k
If you read the responses above, not everyone is bothered about having a one owner car. every one wants a new car, if you cannot buy new every one wants that mint 1 owner from new car.

forum buyer say that a lot, bit like the 100k threads posted here with a load of st cars they would not buy if they had 100k.
The facts are more owner limits your resale market, no getting past that, I would never buy a 6 owner car even if it were 10 years old.
where are you going today again ? o yes to buy a BRAND new car :-)

They dont need a 10k refresh just yet (as their not 10 years old yet silly) but 1k a year will do for now...

Yes I am, but thats not because I want a one owner car, it's because I'll be waiting for years for a yellow GTS to come up!The facts are more owner limits your resale market, no getting past that, I would never buy a 6 owner car even if it were 10 years old.
