The 981 Cayman 2.7 comes with halogen lights as std. where as the 981 Cayman S comes with Xenon lights as std. but I noticed that there are loads of images where the Cayman S has no headlight washer system and I've read it's only available if you option PDLS?

I'm sure I've read that it's illegal in UK and won't pass MOT if car has Xenons without headlight washer system.

Is it possible that someone can confirm if the Cayman S without PDLS has headlight washer system?

Unless the pictures I've seen are in different countries where it's not a legal requirement?

standard Xenons are not bright enough to have to have washers.

PDLS and PDLS+ are brighter and need washers.

Note that on base Boxster/Cayman, only PDLS or PDLS+ is available as options.

Are the std. Xenon lights OK for illumination? A little concerned to hear that the std. Xenons are not bright enough to require the washer system

I find them quite good - they are a noticeable improvement from the lights on my Spyder that I had before.

So this re-raises the question of retrofitting Xenons if they can be fitted at a power that does not require self levelling or washers.

I have to say, the PDSL lights on my car never cease to amaze, driving on a windy country road at night - certainly one of the options that is worth the money (should be standard though?).

I'm glad someone else raised this as I too was skeptical regarding the claim of xenons without washer jets.

If they aren't powerful enough to warrant them then they must be pretty dire...

Washers only required if the lamp exceeds 2,000 lumens. Ie if the lights are crap and don't meet that, they don't need washers.

Regulation 6.2.9

This lot applies to washers to if fitted:

The unece regs apply to pretty much everywhere of note except US and Canada.
