Just had to pay 145 per litre for 98 octane compared with 125 for 95 octane at same outlet. Anyone else see this sort of differential??

Nope - 8p a litre usually at Shell and around 5p a litre at Tesco. Never even consider any other brands.

Fuel is cheaper than mineral water.

Just think about that for a minute.

I feel quite happy paying a similar price for V-Power as I do for diesel where I live.
I may go slightly further on the diesel, but I sure as Hell ain't having as much fun smile

Blimey, I hope thats not your usual station. I was marvelling the other day at how cheap Shell V-Power is at the moment at the stations I frequent at 13xp, I have only seen 14xp at motorway service stations.

Hi Carl - yes it is (was) my regular local station.

Molly - not really complaining about overall cost, I only fill up the toy once month at most but surprised at the differential!

Tesco give up to 20p off a litre per month with their club card thing. I get the discount and fill up two cars with their super unleaded.

I've thought about it and checked it and it's not.

I can buy 12 x 1.5 litres of Volvic for £4:99
That's 18 litres for £4:99

27p a litre.

You are paying too much for water
or you have very cheap petrol
or you are reading the daily mail and believing it.

I paid £1.59 a litre for some Super Unleaded at a Jet garage at the end of June, the regular Unleaded was the normal price of around £1.25.

mollytherocker is right, though. Petrol is cheap compared to mineral water.

60% of the cost of mineral water isn't taxed, nor does it have the high exploration and production costs of oil. Fill up folks beer

97 Octane is currently 129p per L at the Texaco garage at Felixstowe Co-Op
Boxster S 986 is quite happy on it

My local Shell station in Swindon seems to have maintained a 9ppl differential between their standard unleaded and V-Power for some time. I think V-Power is current 134ppl.

But the cost of mineral water is much lower than the cost of petrol. Clearly.

If you're daft enough to pay a higher PRICE for your water than you do for petrol, then that's your problem.

No she isn't.
She said petrol is cheaper than mineral water.
It isn't.
As for it being cheap in comparison, it would depend on your situation but remove the taxes and petrol is still double the price.

Maybe Diet Coke is a better argument 99% water, 1g of concentrate for every 100g of liquid. £1.49 a litre! wink

While that wasn't what I was arguing, I bet in the average Shell garage a litre of Evian is close to a litre of petrol!

Silly billy. You can't even decide what you're arguing about.
I bet you're a woman.
