Nice car Fish, had seen it on the classifieds and must say I did like the grey.

Talking of satnav updates, I wonder if I need one as I don't have full post code search and keep going 'off-road' at some new motorway junctions! Does the update have the 7 digit search does anybody know? Sarnie?
Yes I've had the PCM 3 update and it now does 7 digit post codes, so a lot more useful.

It's also only about £150... one of the best genuine Porsche updates going. You get the latest PSM software and 2014 sat nav..

The dealers don't like doing it as it can take a few hours!

Few more cars appearing now;

16k Peridot car;

Low mile 5.5k black manual car, probably would have been tempted by this car even though I didn't want Black;

Still not really anything thats making me regret buying mine at the moment......maybe there'll be more after the GT4 announcement in a few weeks?

Whats everyones opinion on the Porsche warranty.....is it something that people look for in a 2nd hand Cayman R?

The warranty on mine runs out in May, but I cant decide whether there is any value in renewing it (I've got my name down for the GT4), particularly if it doesnt make much difference to its 2nd hand value.

is it worth 850 quid for piece of mind for another year. Depends on who you are I guess.

Personally, it would (and did) entirely depend on the proposition as a whole Eg price, spec, history, mileage etc.

I was prepared to go up to £45k for exactly the right car but would have wanted Porsche warranty at that price range....if I was buying private I wouldn't expect a car to come with Porsche warranty but would expect the car to be of a standard to be able to get the car warranted Eg N spec tyres etc etc....

I was lucky to find a car that had been bought from an OPC in March 2014 so it has warranty till March 2016.....

I didn't bother, the reasons being

- The gen2 DFI engines seem to be fairly solid and don't suffer from many big issues such as scored bores, IMS issues etc. Thats not to say of course the engine won't go bang for another reason I realise.
- I won't be doing much mileage in mine over the next few years
- I bought it from an independent who has a decent reputation for looking after their customers and their cars, so their warranty should cover most things should I need it - I expect it wouldn't cover a rebuild and 6 new cylinder liners though, but then thats highly unlikely.

If I was expecting to be putting 15-20k miles on it in the next 12 months then i'd probably think that £850 was worth the peace of mind.

Mine does have nearly new tyres (correctly provided/fitted by porsche), full porsche service history (its about to have its major service) and still under Porsche warranty.

I just cant guage if the extended warranty adds much, if anything to its 2nd hand value....

Offer it as is, and if it's raised as an issue offer to get the car warranteed as part of the deal? If I was a seller, I wouldn't lose a sale over £850......you never know when another buyer will come along....

When I was looking for my 'R' the only private sale cars I entertained the idea of where those still under Porsche warranty, and if I had gone for one I'd have had a rev range check as condition of sale to make sure it hadn't been invalidated. That's just me and I suspect I'm more cautious than many, but if you're selling a car like that and can put in the title of the AutoTrader ad '12 months Porsche warranty' then I'd have looked at your car where without it I'd probably have passed by. Everyone is different though.

P.S. Dropping my car off for a new window seal under warranty after work today....

Its got PSE listed, and to be fair does have quite a few other extras including a years Porsche warranty, although why anybody would want a rear wiper to spoil the look I have no idea.

Got some miles on her though which would have put me off.

Probably a fair price for that car.

Missed the PSE in the listing......pretty sure this car was for sale around Sept/Oct last year when I was ordering my GTS but was still looking at CR's.......pictures are exactly the same too.....

So he could see out of the back as well as the front, perhaps? Seriously, I agree it does spoil the look a bit, but particularly if you park outside and get rain or condensation overnight, then it's a very useful to have. For a DD parked outside I'd say it was highly desirable.

Couldn't disagree more.

In 3 years of DD use including long tours to Europe and Scotland I never once felt my rear view was compromised and I had a light smoke tint on mine!

The rear wiper looks like a ridiculous after thought and spoils the car for me. So much cleaner without...

Do you normally park outside (not under cover) overnight - I think that is the crucial issue? But I do agree it looks cleaner without. I have one (bought secondhand so wiper not my choice) - I rarely need it, but then mine is under cover overnight. I know from other posts that some find it very useful.

scratchchin

I don't follow your logic...

Why does it matter if there are rain drops on the car when parked outside? As soon as you get moving they sheet off anyway and water tends to be rather transparent??

Not being a dick I just really don't follow your logic on this one.
