2nd car is a Cayman S with a Cayman R suspension and Bilstein dampers.
No warranty, new polyrib belt at 47000km and now for sale at 48000km... not sure how I'd feel about that.

1st car has no mention of it being accident free. wink

not seeing a lot of love here for the PDK variant of the R. Is it really that bad compared to manual? Must admit my preference is for a manual box coming from air-cooled 911's but thought PDks' are semi auto and you can do manual shifts in them if preferred?
Had hoped to get a test drive in that Tonbridge one this weekend but see its sold already.

Also wondering if I would be better going for an S and spending money on it to make it like an R if I really want manual? But I am quite hooked on the R's now. I presume you can still do things like road-tour Europe in an R? ie there not that hardcore are they?

Mines a PDK and I love it.

Some people prefer manual, some PDK, it's as simple as that.

Yes you could do a trip to Europe - they are not too hardcore - I've driven to York and back in a day from Surrey. It's about as comfortable as I've ever been driving a car - but I do love the buckets.

If you're going to mod the car, probably beter starting off with a cheaper car in the first place. However, if the car is primarily for road use, with perhaps the odd track day thrown in, I don't think you need to mod the R - I'm thinking about modding mine because I want something a bit more hardcore.

I hope to find out in July. Going over to Swiss Alps with a mate in his R (PDK) for a week, meeting up with a mate him his Swiss reg'd 993 C2. Can't wait!!

(Just need to find the best way of getting an IPod lead installed without paying £500 from OPC!)

I've come from 2 x 993's, and Cayman S and a MK1 GT3, the R has to be the best all rounder..

PDK for me too. Spend my time on the road, not on a track so suits me just fine. Has paddles, sport, sport plus I don't need a clutch pedal as well. Manual lovers probably have just as many good reasons. Just be happy to own an R

It's a focused road car, not hard core at all, but it got slated for "NOT being hardcore enough at launch"

so a lot of people missed out on one of todays best road driving cars imo.

enjoy the trips you have the right car for them

perfect for Europe trips

mine is pdk and since I have to contend with a lot of st roads as well as great ones it is a superb compromise

I sometimes feel there needs to be a setting between sport and sport plus. The first is too keen to go into high gear whereas the sport plus is just a little too much for the road.

I'm ashamed to admit, I've never pressed the Sport Plus button!

In my defence, I've only owned it through the months of Dec, Jan & Feb, not conducive to hooning yet!!

I hope you're good lady isn't frightened when you go really bloody fast then, The Alpine Assault was very well paced last year.

So much fun I'm going again this year, I'll look forward to meeting you and seeing the Cayman R in actionthumbup

Sports plus is pointless, in my view. If you are driving that hard and holding each gear to the death, you may as well make manual changes.

I agree, Sport Plus in auto mode is an embarrassing, jerky mess. The only advantage is when driving in manual (paddle flicking wink) mode, you get a minutely faster gear shift, slightly looser PSM/TC and the rock hard suspension kicks in, all from one button.

Have to admit to rarely using it.

Indeed, I think she's got bigger balls than I have sometimes!

Looking forward to it, a lot!

I had a good trip down to Le Mans with a group year before last and I don't think i've ever driven so fast in my life (and thats saying something), that was in the Cayman S too - a trip that made me realise just how good a car they can be given the company it was keeping.

Hey Pete! Hope you're keeping well - am so stoked to be going again this year, and so many familiar faces. The CGTS exhaust is a gift from the gods after the BMW - but can't wait to hear your Hayward and Scott setup bouncing off the walls, was the best sounding on tour last year as it was!!

Beanoir, you will both have a complete and utter face-aching blast in the CR keeping up with those GT3's - I've never sweated so much in my life!!

P.S. don't forget the shorts and flip-flops for the snowball fight in Stelvio wink

/apologies for going off topic...
