How hard is it to find a decent Cayman R??
Discussion
yep had read the whole thread start to finish when I first started thinking of an R. Good tip you gave on googling the number plate too, except most dealers blank off the plate with a trade sign!
200 cars eh? Would have thought there might be a few more up for sale by now. Maybe once GT4 cars start being collected in spring.
Colour preference for me would be red, black and maybe white. Looks great in most colours but peridot just isn't for me and definitely not silver.
Still slightly tempted to get a Cayman Sport and save 15K, which leaves money for upgrades to make it a good challenge for an R and also keeps the hobby factor of personalising your own car. But I keep getting drawn back to the R's as something special. I always expected to get a GT3 at some point until the prices went mental in the last year.

Some had LSD as an optional extra.Still slightly tempted to get a Cayman Sport and save 15K, which leaves money for upgrades to make it a good challenge for an R and also keeps the hobby factor of personalising your own car. I had a Cayman S Sport in orange with big spec including bucket seats - it was a great car but the R is worth the extra for the engine/suspension - I'd push for an R rather than spend money on a 987.1 that might end up costing you in the long run.A Cayman R meet sounds good - should be collecting mine tomorrow

Less the 3K miles, wow !!! http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
Decent spec too. Stupidly low mileage........wondered if it's even been serviced? Porsche warranty?Silver looks better with the black wheels but I still don't think I could buy one in Silver??

Lazy driver too! Less than 1000 miles a year , perfect spec for me except the colour , I would prefer pdk but not that fused !
Yep, the colour is the killer.........in white, blue, red or peridot it would fly out the door.....someone will buy it quickly if only for the mileage/potential investment opportunity........if there even is one! Sarnie said:

Funny, when looking for mine, I specifically wanted one in platinum. I would have considered other colour's, but that was my preference. If you look at buying patterns over the last 6 months, these cars sell well in all colours. However, your silver's another mans peridot or red! Mouser73 said:

Yep, thats why I said I'm sure somebody will buy it, not everyone is after the more "In your face colours". So, bizarrely, this may sell quicker to someone specifically after a Silver car.....rather than someone like me who kept waitingg and waiting for the next White/Peridot car to come along in the right spec.....if you're after a silver car, there may not be a better one out of the circa 200 UK cars, better than this one?I still think its a bit pricey for a private sale but someone might pay for that low mileage.....
Silver works well on the R , always look better in real life and most people don't like shouty colours.
Also great spec if one is after PDK this car has a lot going for it inc that mega low mileage.
1st to see it will buy it I would guess I am always impressed with the R in silver when I see one :-)
Good look to e owner selling it.

Why would someone advertise a 44k car with no photos of the interior. Unbelievable.
Lots of people aren't used to selling cars, most just part ex into their next one so they aren't used to putting together a sales ad.Or they may have thought that at 3000 miles the interior is like new so no need for pics or they struggled to get good pics of the interior and thought no pics would be better then poor ones.

Blimey, I though mine was low mileage. I don't mind it in silver, but i'm sick of owning silver cars now, I couldn't have faced yet another.
GT silver is a bit nicer than Arctic though, slightly darker which looks better I think.

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. I had been looking at a Sport for a long while before the R popped onto my radar. Sure the sport is still a great car but the R has the definite edge, just a shame they don't do the R in the GT colours ala the Sport

En route to the 'ring
The only problem with a Cayman is that you can get carried away on track and do this to the tyres:

Love a Cayman in Orange, that's what got me into them in the first place and had my eye on a couple of orange cars for sale for months.
Hasn't anyone developed adjustable camber plates for a Cayman yet? Nasty outer tyre damage there!
Great track Spa, done two track days there myself in the aircooled 911 :-)
