Picked mine up today...

Hopefully popping up to Oulton tomorrow to watch a few hours of RS day, will get some decent miles on it then and see what it's all about smile

Is there a CR owners thread on here that I've missed?

We should get one going for general updates, questions, photos etc.

Rather than clogging up this thread about finding them for sale....

That looks just like mine!

I've been in the US for a week, best go and check that she's still in the garage :-)

Yeah, yeah - you just want a CR owners' thread because you own one now ;-)

That's a given lol!

Would be nice to have general chit chat somewhere more specific rather than in a buyers thread smile

biggrin

They do look best in red, Chris de Burgh was right on this one.

I'm running a GT2 register linked from my profile, would be happy to get one up and running for the CRs, Spyders etc. I've got details of 90% of the 996 GT2s but am still adding them, should be a useful thing once it's finished, a CR one could be useful for future buyers.

Most definitely!

Now you just need a set of titanium wheel bolts to replace the horrible corroding Porsche items...

Oh, and the GT2 RS gear knob/gaiter looks absolutely great in a red CR too - don't have a picture handy though.

That does look fantastic, but largely because of the processing on the photo...

The slightly washed out red in the photo further up is more representative of the real world colour.

It changes massively depending on the light conditions. My front PU was painted as part of the sales prep by the OPC, in most lights it looks fine but in low light conditions it looks like the paint has more orange in it- I'm hoping this is a fresh paint on plastic issue rather than a wrong colour being applied eek

Oh come come.. you're being too hard on yourself.

Look at the green leaves in the processed pic, they look like they've being spray painted!

I used to think the Guards Red was a lovely colour but unless it is my eyes or my memory playing tricks it seems to have taken on an orange tinge these days.
Don't get me wrong still looks good but just not as good as I remember.

is red still a problem for modern cars? Thought they might have eliminated that sun-fade that blighted red cars of the 80s-noughties. They look awful when they turn slightly rose pink.
Shame if so as I quite fancy an R in red

No its no longer a problem with modern paint and even if it were, you can get rid of the pink paint with a good old polish.
