I suspect you will smile
Are you driving the original Cobalt blue car or the 3.7 ?

The original Cobalt blue car had a remap, exhaust and LWFW, nothing more. It, along with the weight reduction definitely gave the car a harder, more urgent edge.

Are you taking the car away for a couple of days, or merely a few hours ? If you want some recommendations for suitable roads close to SVP, I can give you some pointers .......

gen 1 have a quite a dead spot imo, deleting the 2 rear cats helps but the mods I did to the gen 1 really do help on the engine.
It's not about peak BHp but the car is just way more drivable with the power more linear.

I drove a gen 1 with the added diff, thought it did not need it ,so did not add it to mine in the end.
Sold the 19" and put 18" back on also.

looks like the front track is a lot wider on that car, also some thing both mine are today.

the dead spot is quite nasty though.

not telling you, you might go looking for it, :-p ok 3650rpm ;-) torque drops off and BHP dips.
then a smaller dip at about 4300

but if you want free reving you need to delete some cats. the cars so held back getting more air in and back out just free's it all up.

I won't post my 2 dyno plots , people give me hate mail if I do lol
this is some ramdon cayman chart

o crap I cannot help myself lol much nicer smoother line on the modded run.

Imo you should sell it and buy a mk2 NA exige.

Light weight, mine was 840kg, high reving and great steering, mine did have 46mm 3 way Ohlins on it though.
But it was a great drive.

Here is a vid vs a Cayamn me driving

Cmoose, what model Cayman did you end up buying, a 2.7 or 3.4?? (I thought you still had the 2.5 Boxster).

Did you buy it then realise it needed a rebuild?

Apologies for going over old ground, just want to get up to speed with your situation.

I see. So when Porsche fixed the problem, did they use different/improved components to ensure it doesn't happen again?

So I assume your car is still under Porsche warranty, or is it soon to be too old to renew?

thats car talk for "wide open throttle" :-)

but you stated
"Yes, still under warranty until May. I can renew for a year up until early Jan."

but you want to fit lightweight fly wheel etc and do mods.

Could you not get someone to simply remap the car to reduce the torque over the mid range, that way getting the feeling that you are after?

Some healthy looking improvements there mrdemon. Ball park figure wise how much are you looking at for that improvement and how much difference do you feel in the drive.

What is it about the look of your Cayman you don't like? Is it the ride height, or something else?

I had a 987 gen 2 in Guards Red (2.9) and loved its look....though occasionally I would it approach it from some angles and it would look a bit 'odd'!!

Here it is...great car!

Yes, I know what you mean. I think it was definately the fact that they grafted a coupe roof onto an existing design originally produced as a roadster only...

That is why they had the trouble with the 'buffeting' in the interior...they tried to solve it with a moving weight in the rear hatch with little success.

The 981 Cayman has clearly been designed at the same time as the Boxster and is a much more coherent design....just my opinion, though others will disagree.

If you don't like the overall look, there isn't really a lot you can do with it I guess?
