Are you sticking with the 987 CS? I know you were thinking of moving it on? Be good to see it properly lowered.

Perhaps the OP should consider selling the Cayman R, buying a the cheaper Gen 2 987 CS and modding that up with the money made on the R? He could build a bespoke car better than the R?

This is part of the problem - both comments are valid, however, I believe that the 987 is more in keeping with what I like in a car, the mods that Cmoose describes are exactly the shortcomings that I feel the car has.

People always say that. As I stated previously, if I do mod the CR, I'll keep it forever. I wouldn't make money if I sold the CR, I would in fact have crystallised a loss. If you already have a CR, there are quite a few bits you get with that car that are desirable and I'd like to keep, bucket seats, Spyder alloys, lightweight doors to name a few, but if I mod it to exactly what I want, then why sell it at all? No money lost either, I'll just have a nice car, with all mod cons that is great on track and could probably teach some way more powerful cars a thing or two on track wink

Guys with respect maybe you are overthinking this... And What you are referring to has all been tried and tested by countless CS owners on planet 9, even to the point of considering booster replacement which was concluded to be far too much Agro to consider. Swap mc, lines, fluid, pads job done. Then it's diminishing returns and girodisc etc etc but can't see you would want that for a road car even with some track use.

You don't really help yourself with comments like this. There are CS owners out there like myself who have more or less ALL the mods you are thinking about, brakes, pss9, arb, etc etc who would be happy to advise you about them if you weren't such a needlessly argumentative bell end.

I don't know how you can refer to braided lines as 'bling'. They are a proven improvement to any braking system by allowing greater pressure to be applied due to the reduced/lack of line expansion.

I didn't mean it from a financial point of view. Just, if you're going to mod up a car to your bespoke specification, it makes sense to keep it for a long time to get the full enjoyment - especially as manufactures don't appear to be building cars you chaps like anymore.

Agree. A bigger MC will make the brakes heavier and the travel shorter (both desirable if you heel and toe) but it won't do anything for any sponge in the system. Indeed if PR36 is right and there is flex at the pedal, it will make things worse in that regard. I would certainly consider hoses as a suitable case for treatment - particularly if someone advised me they were beneficial.

I assume you mean 986? God forbid you've been retro fitting old lines to your 987 to create that 'old school' feel ;-)

In my rally days we fitted braided hoses for protection from external damage rather than pedal feel. I always assumed that was the idea of them. I'm pretty sure a good quality standard brake hose does not expand significantly enough to affect the pedal feel.

ffs is it just me or isn't it a no brainer to fit sixty quids worth of braided lines when you've got to bleed the system anyway because of the master cylinder. banghead

My apologies for not getting the basics right bow

If you want to talk about basics then get yours right, definition of a troll In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory comments.

I don't see how saying you made me laugh fits any of that.

Please do enlighten me as to how my comment sowed any discord or upset you. Genuine question as it wasn't my intention.i actually find your posts to usually be very informative to someone who has only just ventured into Porsche ownership.

You really can't see a genuine apology when it is in black and white.
A poorly judged bit of humour my first post may have been but that was all it was.
Apologies to the OP as well.

Cmoose I have no desire to troll whatsoever, truth be told I spend far too much of my time on here gleaning info for future purchases to want to be tarred with that brush.
I will leave it by saying yes genuine cock up on my part so sorry.
