I asked the very same question of the driver consultants at the Silverstone driver experience centre - regarding PTV the view was it is icing on the cake, the LSD is well worth it for improved traction out of bends. With regards suspension I drove both PASM and -20mm sports suspension (with PCCB) at Silverstone and the extra precision of the sports set up was noticeable as was the brake feel of the PCCB over standard. I would have chosen the -20mm suspension as well but SWMBO would not have appreciated the firmer ride on our broken roads.
Having driven a 991 GT3 at length with ceramics on both road and track and owning one with steels, there is very little difference in brake feel and no difference in performance.........imo.

1275kg DIN and 380PS is very close to what the reader in sportauto back in August claimed...

The weight seems realistic, a new 981 Cayman S with manual transmission, PCM, PSE, Radio and AC weighs around 1355 kg wet.
Delete the AC and Radio, use some lighter rims and wheels, add carbon bucket seats, remove some insulation and carpet, etc...

see this thread where somebody configured a GTS for the lowest weight possible:

http://www.pff.de/porsche/board104-porsche-modelle...

(yes I imagine he will be annoyed when the GT4 is out biggrin)

I'm hoping a few GTS owners want to upgrade and trade in a few driver orientated cars - a lot of those currently on sale are £7-10k more expensive than I need them to be due to PDK/PCM/GTS interior/'special' paint and bits of painted/carbon trim.

I don't do track days and really don't like big spoilers, so a GT4 isn't going to be my thing.

No not as a full on track car. I was advised if I was planning on repeated track days NOT to opt for PCCB. Clearly I am dealing with an Internet "expert" here. No real point in continuing this debate. Suffice to say I satisfied myself having sought the opinions of various professional and knowledgeable sources including several who have had a great deal of experience with and without them before I made my decision. I am happy with that choice and have no regrets.
Why am I an Internet expert, I track cars, and I track cars with ceramic disks,

The GT4 is going to have big brakes and is more a Motorsport car as far as we know, so why spec ceramic disks on it !
I asked you who were your experts and what was the advice, your answer sucks, and to back out and say "no real point in continuing" also sucks if you cannot back up simple question.

I am fussed about a Porsche warranty and would never alter a car from what Porsche designed - in the belief they probably know a great deal more than I - or you - do.
You must drive very dull cars then.

Thanks for the education. I didn't realise all my Porsche cars, the last two being a Cayman S PDK, or a Carrera S PDK with Powerkit were dull cars. No doubt my forthcoming Boxster GTS will equally dull. Of course I do now realise it. Thank you for the benefit of your vast knowledge and experience, much appreciated.

Regarding the engine, and further to recent quotes, are we now basically ruling out a 3.8 unit?

Yep dull old PDK, and I even stay with boring safe Porsche approved N rated tyres, and even Porsche's totally inadequate suspension set up as well. You are obviously even more knowledgeable about such things than the engineers in Zuffenhausen. Truly amazing.

That does not make me more knowledgeable than Porsche that I adjust my car, it means Porsche are forced to set the car up for idiots who would over steer off the road other wise.

read into that what you will.

Well you certainly try - in vain I might add - to convince everyone you are an expert. So anyone who doesn't alter their car away from standard are idiots then, or at the very least incompetent.

Interesting.....
