Just had this conversation and was told leaving a deposit will enhance my chances of getting a car!
I have bee n told by a dealership group that depending on your previous business with said group ie how many cars you have purchased etc and if already bought some kind of gt car new improves your chances!forget lists as it is down to the dealership principal who gets cars!So all the money people with their gt3s look set to get a car and if your not top of the list and never bought a new porsche forget it as some one below you who has spent money at said dealership gets a car!
My dealer told me that individual sales people can effectively do what they want. In reality then, they'll start phoning the customers they think will want one, and start with the people they prefer dealing with. Like any human, they will follow the least path of resistance.

It all depends on whether you're intent on getting the first car or just want a car. At the end of the day, you need to decide who you trust to pay a deposit to and decide fast. What I will say is that despite Newcastle being my local dealer, I'm amongst many who are buying new Porsches elsewhere other than JCT600.
I was hoping as a previous customer of JCT600, placing a letter of interest last July would secure 1st car to the dealer, but I get the feeling 1 or more favoured customers are getting to jump the queue. I offered a deposit, but they wouldnt take one till officially announced. Unlike Porsche Glasgow, who wanted £3000 just to place LOI. Edinburgh took LOI as 1st to get a car, but dont really seem to know whats going on !!. I want a car and preferably one of the 1st in the country Carl_Docklands said:

Going by the GT3 launch that is probably not a wise choice. At least with a later car the kinks will be ironed out.And the new owner will be able to drive it All Day and All of the Night, without worry.
Skipped a few pages as got bored about off topic sumps!
Spoke to my local OPC this morning, still no information (though at least was honest enough to say he didn't want to speculate), was happy with my LOI, no requirement for a deposit at this stage, and is fully aware of my requirements from this car...i.e. 911 engine (or touching 400bhp anyway), manual, light!
I do however have a sneaky suspicion that with the rumoured launch of a new Boxster Spyder, this GT4 is simply the new name for the Cayman R, and as such, will see a small power hike and a bit of a diet. Hope not.
Wondering if any of you are considering a purchase as an investment? The Cayman R has held value incredibly well so why not this, especially if limited run?

a well speced R was £65k retail you can buy them for £40kish now that's not an investment in my eyes ;-)A GT4 at £75K is an expensive car, cannot see it being a investment, putting £75k down a on £120k rental house is an investment ;-)

no one should ever buy a car as an investment.A GT4 at £75K is an expensive car, cannot see it being a investment, putting £75k down a on £120k rental house is an investment ;-)
Porsche motorsport cars do have a tendency to hold their value very well though, and who knows ...if they come with a manual box they could well do what the current gt3 is doing.

Sorry Mr Demon, the comparison to the CR was just to highlight that prices are holding firm, so would hope that if the GT4 is a limited run car with an impressive spec, it might actually be a Cayman that holds original value and potentially rises. I certainly would be buying one to drive, not tuck away, but wouldn't want to take a hit like some Porsches have.A GT4 at £75K is an expensive car, cannot see it being a investment, putting £75k down a on £120k rental house is an investment ;-)

Putting £110k down on a 991 GT3 was an investment...A GT4 at £75K is an expensive car, cannot see it being a investment, putting £75k down a on £120k rental house is an investment ;-)

With the best will in the world as much as I like the Cayman (and I really do) I cant see it following he price action of the GT3's. Good spec means it holds value yes but up to 100k? Im really not convinced
More than likely the last NA manual GT car ever built by Porsche. It all depends on the spec, but if it is a weapon (which I doubt) then it will be extremely sought after.ORD said:
If I had £75k sitting around, I would buy one and drive its cock off for a few years and sell it for, what about £60k? That would make it as expensive to run as a bloody diesel Audi.
Not really, the Audi A8 4.2 TDI Sport Exec retails at over £80k, before options... After a year, you can pick them up for low £50kThat makes the GT4 a bloody bargain!
Bang on, Geneva showing of Gt4 cayman alongside GT3RS. Cayman GT4 to be: 3.4 manual only, 385bhp, new induction system, 4.2 sec to 60, base price £65k, c/s option, the leaked black test car is"It" low production numbers. Announced 4th Feb when online configurator will go live. Deliveries July.
So if the above is correct what do we think winner or not?

oooo tough one if the case, would have liked to have seen them use the 3.8 and push 400bhp if they are really wishing to make a move on the 911 dominance, but if they will confirm a limited run, I'd still be very interested.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
