It all depends on whether you're intent on getting the first car or just want a car. At the end of the day, you need to decide who you trust to pay a deposit to and decide fast. What I will say is that despite Newcastle being my local dealer, I'm amongst many who are buying new Porsches elsewhere other than JCT600.
I was hoping as a previous customer of JCT600, placing a letter of interest last July would secure 1st car to the dealer, but I get the feeling 1 or more favoured customers are getting to jump the queue. I offered a deposit, but they wouldnt take one till officially announced. Unlike Porsche Glasgow, who wanted £3000 just to place LOI. Edinburgh took LOI as 1st to get a car, but dont really seem to know whats going on !!. I want a car and preferably one of the 1st in the country CheesyFootballs said:

Not limited run hmmm
Is this confirmed?Edited by mdianuk on Wednesday 4th February 00:38
If I had to guess then I'd say that means 1000-2000 like with the Cayman R and Boxster Spyder.

Yes, confirmed by the man himself in the Evo video. He said no limited edition with a plaque but limited by the amount of cars they can build. They "won't build 5000, 6000 or 10000 cars" is what he said.

closer to 5000 than 2000 I expect to recover the investment at this "low" price point, but it is still small numbers in the scheme of things. If I had to guess then I'd say that means 1000-2000 like with the Cayman R and Boxster Spyder.
I've woke up feeling fairly luke warm on it now Maybe hoping it would be the car the Cayman deserves to be, but Porsche haven't quite pushed it far enough. It is a decent step up from the GTS, but not that significant. Was hoping it would be quite limited, exclusive, with a tad more power and styling. Being picky?

You mean you wanted a GT4 RS ?Edited by mdianuk on Wednesday 4th February 08:17
Looks like it'll be a great car, but can't help feeling disappointed they didn't rinse a 3.4 to 385hp rather than just "hot rod" it as Andreas said by chucking more capacity at the problem.
That said, if the B Spyder follows the same pattern and I could get it with sports seats PDK and leccy roof, I'd prob change my BGTS order to a Spyder if I could.

Do you or anyone else feel that a GT4 RS is likely? I'd feel much more comfortable paying £75k for a more extreme version than £65k for this one.The more I read the data, the more impressed I am again, but something is holding me back like it wouldn't before. Possibly the power, the lack of exclusivity, or the rumoured (is it a rumour?) Boxster version?

To add to the above, would have also preferred shorter ratios, I don't care if it's got an extra 40hp, 85mph in 2nd is too long, although it is a bit more forgivable on this carI think it's going to be pretty average, I am afraid.
It will be raved about in the motoring press, of courses, but using a low-revving tuned down version of a 911 engine is a very bad sign indeed.
Less torque more revs is what the Cayman should have relative to a 911, but it looks like it will be, if anything, less peaky than a 911 S.

Yes, next year.A real GT engine, weight savings from composite panels/roof, lightweight battery, climate and radio delete could shave another 100 kg off the GT4 imo... considering it is possible to configure/modify a 981 GTS to <1300kg wet (yes... brakes wheels and engine are heavier but the composite + thinner bodywork/glass could make up for it)

Just to put you all out of your misery, I have checked what the 12 pre-production vehicles have engine wise...
The answer is 3.8l with 385hp! Claimed top speed is 295kmh, gvw 1665kg with a unladen weight of 1415kg (not sure if that includes a driver, but probably not)
