Porsche has advised OPCs that the deposit for the GT4 is £5k. Beware of dealers who are asking for more.
Yep, both my OPC's have asked me for a £5k deposit today; told them no thanks, not extreme enough or rare enough for me, I'll wait for the RS. Lovely car though, but wanted a massive step forward.

I paid mt £5k deposit today.

The dealer seemed to think 500 cars would be made for the UK.

That doesn't seem right... it would suggest over well over 5000 cars worldwide? They would probably still sell every singe one of them.

AP said not 5000, so could well be 4800. biggrin

And really why not. The market is ever growing for such cars

AP didn't say there was a limit to production, he was forecasting potential sales.

As far as I know 1138 Cayman Rs and 1893 Boxster Spyders were built. Source is the Porsche Archive via a German forum.

Zero. Unless you see it testing on the Ring 6-24 months prior to release, as with previous RS models.

Apparently there isn't a hard limit (so it won't be a limited run car), the GT4 will be produced to order to customer demand over a defined period (probably until they cease prodction of the current gen 981). Porsche have done this before and the numbers were quite high, like the Spyder (c.1,000 UK alone).

I thought there were only a couple of hundred Spyders, similar to Cayman R numbers in the UK?

Deposit down!

OPC has told me that PDK is to follow after initial run of manual only. I'm going manual to compliment the GT3 on the other side of the garage smile

I provided a Letter of Intent (an email the sales guy i use) in December. I may have been a bit slow to the party as i can see people were chatting to dealers in September. However, i must be one of the first to actually leave the deposit.

I believe what's more in anyone's favour is having an existing relationship. My sales guy has always said he will start with his 'favourite' customers (i.e. a good purchasing history, easy to deal with and just enjoys doing business with) and work down from there.

They confirmed the configuration should be live tomorrow, so i'll do that and then ask more questions of the dealer. If anyone wants to throw in more questions for me to ask, i'll do so...

They're building to demand, you should get a car if you're on a list.

The CR was circa 5000 worldwide with the USA accounting for 3500 and rest of world 1600 (approx)
The Spyder was circa 2000 UsA accounting for 800 ROW 1200.
Placed my £5k down today although not binding !imho and from what the dealer has told me expect about the same number built has CR also every one who wants one should get one as Pdk only fans pullout!
Checked figures against other porsche brochures it's as quick as a Pdk 7.2s (not sport mode)and also manual 7.2 GTS.
The tell tail with gear ratios being better is the quicker 50-75 mph if I recall almost a second quicker than a cgts
Notice also 0-99mph not showing but the 0-125mph is on par with 6gt3!but the gt4 is a second qiucker 50-75
Footnote
Expect numbers same as manual CR so circa 2500-3000

Just had a look at the GT4...3.8L and only 385bhp it should have the 430bhp lump from the 911 GTS for the £64.5k asking price.

It's very nice though...
