Just had a look at the GT4...3.8L and only 385bhp it should have the 430bhp lump from the 911 GTS for the £64.5k asking price.

It's very nice though...
If it did it would be very close to GT3 on performance and too far away on price for Porsche.

I put the £5000 deposit yesterday at 9.a.m with my OPC. I have just called them and was told that they also received deposits during the course of yesterday from people who had logged letters of intent with them. Apparently even though I was the first to deposit, that still puts me 3rd or 4th on the list behind those who had provided letters of intent and also proceeded with deposits yesterday.

The dealer said that until they get their allocation they will not know whether I will get a car but he seemed to think that I should be ok.

Does anybody have any further information as to whether or not I am likely to get one o not????

"Give me £5k for a year or so and I make no promise to give anything. At all. Ever".

The bizarre world of Porsche and its customers!

OPCs make loads of money on finance packages and are now taking massive interest-free loans from customers.

Sounds like typical dealer twoddle to me. They'll be plenty of cars, Porsche will be pushing these like pills to kids.

I am confused. Do people place a £5000 deposit for a LOI that is not binding for either side? If so, what's the point of that?
Surely if the car turns out to be rare, sought after and sells well then Porsche would just cancel the LOI with no given reason.

no a LOI was free, no one had to pay a deposit, people who did were daft.

the car is now on the Porsche system, to reserve your slot on the system Porsche are asking now for £5k, this now gets a real number for Porsche to work from as some people had their names down at 3 OPC, no one knew what the real numbers were.

LOI are now worthless, people now need to have signed an order for a car and paid £5k.

you place your spec once you know you have a allocation then you pay 10% of the full list price.

I see, that makes more sense. Is the order you sign to get into Porsche system binding or can you still back out of it? I assume the £5k deposit would stay with Porsche if you back out at this point?

Ive not signed anything and lodged 3k as the OPC told me 'they take deposits more seriously'.

Im yet to decide what I want to do and no point in spec building till you get the nod IMO.

Also Id rather drive a car then decide and it doesn't sound like there will be an option to do this

if you don't sign off an order you will lose your slot though.

My OPC said I had 2 weeks from open books to giving them a sign order, other wise I am off the list.
seems fair, a deposit is worthless with just a LOI, the OPC has your money not Porsche.

and a OPC will not put you on the system until you sign a order form.

Ok good advice tks Demon. Ive asked where I am on the list as they are not forthcoming with this info whereas others seem to be. Once they give me some indication ill go from there

it is annoying if you don't know the place you are at,

it's the 1st thing I ask and then the 2nd is any VIP getting cars before me jumping the list.

not sure why your OPC would not tell you where you are unless you are too far down and they know you are not getting a car in 2015 but want to string you along so you buy a 2016 car.

Demon, still wont commit to where I am but just had to top up my deposit to 5k as that's what 'Porsche are now requiring' apparently.
Also I have now gone ahead and registered spec with Porsche code.
Quick couple of questions for u - 1, Should I spec the larger fuel tank as its free of charge? 2, Can we confirm the Sports chrono does nothing other than give u the timing mumble and a daft looking clock? tks

I will get the larger fuel tank; hate having a small range! If you're that concerned by weight, just never fill it up!

Yes, always spec the larger fuel tank. The only purpose of the smaller tank is to shave ~7,5 kg off the DIN weight on paper... we wouldn't want a GT4 to be heavier than a GTS, now would we? biggrin

I agree I added the larger tank also, I am unsure about the crono pack, as it states we get a free one, and the extra might just be the lap timing

it seems the PSM has 2 modes (interesting), and we also get a sports mode (so that's like the old crono), so Crono might be just a lap timer now !!!

if it is I am not having it,

Yup im with you 100% on that. other consideration is that PCM I feel is a rip off for a sat nav thou others argue its essential for resale

Can someone go over the mobile phone stuff? There are three different options and i'm very confused!

I'm going to get PCM though (which means Sound Plus too) - i do think it is great (remember you get the map and directions in the binnacle too; a very cool feature), looks nice and is a very worthwhile option for resale.

My understanding is that mostly you will need to tick two boxes. The Mobile phone prep. and bluetooth prep boxes. The third telephone module option allows you to plug a SIM card directly into the front of the PCM system.

If you go to page 44 of the tequipment catalogue it will give you more info: http://www.porsche.com/uk/accessoriesandservice/te...

Just been told by my dealer there will be circa 120-140 cars for the uk and the same number again next year ,and that will be it.

as a total guess I would think each dealer will get a similar number to how many gt3's they got.
