Cayman GT4 - Porsche now accepting deposits. (Jan 2015.)
Discussion
I just stopped in at Porsche Mid-Sussex and asked about the GT4 - they weren't even interested in taking a deposit, and estimated they'd get around 10 cars (but had taken at least twice that number of LOIs already). Well done anyone who is getting one, but I suspect it'll be hard to resist the temptation to cash in!

Hi everyone
has anybody received any additional information today regarding build numbers and whether you have been allocated a car?
My opc told me last week ,estimated 130-150 uk cars this year, same again next year, then when I was speccing it up at the weekend he said 124 cars,he may have said 134 I wasn't fullypaying attention at that point .has anybody received any additional information today regarding build numbers and whether you have been allocated a car?
No idea about allocations ,he expected similar to their gt3 allocation ,and he confirmed I would be getting one ,but no idea when.
Has anyone tried this?
I'm curious to know if it would work

If I really wanted one of these.... I mean REALLY wanted one from the get-go then I would have paid the deposit and then spec'd a VERY expensive car..... like every option ticked!!!
Then when the dealer principal goes through the orders he would have looked more favourably on my order than all the others with a lower spec....as obviously he stands to make more money from my order.
Then finally when I had been allocated a slot and in a couple of months I was asked to 'lock down' my spec then I would have got rid of all the options I didn't want.
Having never purchased a brand new car in my life I have no idea if the above would have worked but its what I would have done

My guess is the DP goes through the list of potential customers to call *before* they place a deposit and have a chance to spec. It's based on previous spend and who they fancy.I'm curious to know if it would work

I paid my deposit on the first day. I was the first Loi but got bumped down due to their preferred customers (understandable)
Called them today and I'm still 4th in line to get one but I don't have to do anything until they know allocation etc....
Ok, so you were bumped down by 3 people, which would probably mean I was bumped to 10th-ish, which you would expect would mean I'd still get a call?!Called them today and I'm still 4th in line to get one but I don't have to do anything until they know allocation etc....
I did call them on the Wednesday morning (but the salesman was away) and was told he would call back... I'm still waiting.
Will call them at lunch to ask what happened!

that spec looks like it comes to £71485 so not much premium really. Makes you think why they would bother at such a small margin
£3500 profit on an investment of £5000 for less than 6 months might not be quite a Wonga rate of return, but it sure beats building society rates.Gassing Station | Boxster/Cayman | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
