Ordered as alluded to because it was obviously eventually to be built!
Knowledge confidentially extracted from PGB Reading. Questioning my own integrity now?! Sheltering behind my acute disappointment of the missed target by Porsche/Preuninger. I forgot to mention the first mule/ incarnation of Gt4 was a fire breathing 3.6 400 bhp plus "ring buster" that eclipsed the GT 3. Clearly product positioning got the better of the mighty talented and I guess incredibly frustrated Herr Preuninger. Classic Dumbing Down!!

Nottingham OPC. £3k refundable deposit - paid October 2014. Number 4 on list.
:
Interesting I was told the same 4th on list.
Mmmmm. I can only go by what they told me AND the e-mail to confirm number 4. When did you place order?
This is what salesmen do.

That is all.
Totally agree

Deposit paid 28/10/14

It's funny you can't really trust car dealerships. Saying that, the one where I'm (hopefully getting one) said I was the first person to put in a LOI. However, they also said if any of their better customers wanted a car they would jump me in the queue. I guess this happens at every OPC, but at least this one told me. Well they rang me up in December saying I was no longer first after couple of their better customers were also interested, but said that I would definitely be allocated a car and expect a call on the 9th of February to be asked for a 3k deposit.

No money paid as yet.

Another OPC wanted £500 just to register a LOI

Confirm I have been told 3.6 (no 3.8 sorry) 400hp.

What you describe is a little disappointing as GT4.

Mmm can't believe you ordered it 6 yrs ago.

Well my OPC hasn't asked for a deposit yet, and said they wouldn't until production and spec was confirmed...

Jan is a slow month for most dealers - maybe taking a few deposits helps their cashflow..??

If true what I am reading most manufacturers build the best they can but porsche build to a market and to me the gt4 sounds to me and as said before like a market special!
And if true hence the original 3.6 engine rumour! But maybe we are in for a surprise but I would not hold my breath!

Bang on, Geneva showing of Gt4 cayman alongside GT3RS. Cayman GT4 to be: 3.4 manual only, 385bhp, new induction system, 4.2 sec to 60, base price £65k, c/s option, the leaked black test car is"It" low production numbers. Announced 4th Feb when online configurator will go live. Deliveries July. New hot Boxster will be positioned between Gts and Gt4 outputs and not a la Spyder we all love due to perceived need for better roof.
Me personally underwhelmed having speculatively ordered this potentially dream car 6 years ago. Frustration has finally got the better of me and felt compelled to break cover. Anyone want to bid me for my no.1 OPC slot? Damn it I've waited this long I'll probably have it anyway!!
Rubbish, Well bar the 4th feb date. New Spyder also due.

Ordered a car 6 years ago lol you cannot make this st up.

Only trying to share what I believe to be genuine information. Speculative order/loi WAS lodged 6 years ago in anticipation of the "hot" Cayman that became the "R". I didn't buy and kept gt3.
Such mildly offensive comment is why I read and don' post on forums. I too hope we are in for a nice surprise!! In the meantime, Cheerio.

If the Gt3RS does have a 'completely new engine' ( I know, we've heard it all before) then it's probably for homologation purposes which may make it less likely that the GT4 is a potential platform for a motorsport project. An indication will be whether it has a dry sump or not. I hope that it has.

Ha ha.....I can't believe you are considering buying a 981 after the pages and pages of derogatory comments you've made about them!

Does a big spoiler make it look less like a Toyota MR2 in your eyes?

Cannot see for one moment Porsche producing a one off engine for the GT4. They don't have a 3.6 litre flat six. It wouldn't make any sense. The cost would be astronomical. A more highly tuned 3.4 likely, or maybe God forbid the first of the rumoured turbo flat fours. One things for sure though performance wise it won't be allowed to come close to the GT3, in a straight line and certainly not round the 'Ring.

The problem is salesmen generally is they know next to nothing, they are mostly full of sh*t. Rather than being honest and say they don't know they come out with guesses, much as we do here. A dealer principal told me once that they learn about new models or upgrades from the press and forums and generally hear officially only a couiple of weeks before launch, sometimes even only days.

It doesn't. Porsche confused the issue by referring to the design of the non-Motorsports engine as "integrated dry-sump", but in reality it is nothing more than a wet-sump system.

Of the water-cooled era, only the GT1-based engines and the 991 GT3 have true dry-sump systems.

I'll eat my helmet if it's manual only. I can't really see any reason why they wouldn't offer both manual and auto, assuming there is worldwide demand for both (there appears to be similar demand for manuals in the US as in the UK for example).

But then I can't see why they didn't offer the GT3 as a manual also, unless there is some obscure technical reason. The turbo 911s only come as PDK now also, but they probably appeal to a slightly different market.

I offered yes, but then they told me you got there first and I don't do sloppy seconds.
