...The gt4 is simply to cheap and with the premium on the 991 gt3 just ludicrous right now, and little supply of either no wonder there is a riot, it reminds me of those scenes in Walmart on Black Friday. Throw banknotes to a crowd, get your free motoring here
Everyone has done their man maths and figured out you can now get paid to own a semi exotic instead of that amg or m car, why wouldn't you want a gt4. Just look at how much discussion there was in the foums about keeping the options below 70k, on a frigging gt car?!
It should have been priced at 80k. The 991 gt3 at 120k. Build to order. Problems solved.

So how are these guys able to offer this up then when normal buyers are being turned away?

Someone needs to let Porsche know, it should free up at least one build slot for a true enthusiast?

A good post, I think you have probably hit the nail on the head.
Exige V6 is simply incredible on track, the 430bhp upgrade makes it faster on most tracks than GTRs and any GT3. I have had it for 18 months and fancy a change, it also does not get me to and from the track in much comfort at all, the trip to the Ring and Spa for example is tedious. Just fancy something that can be mighty on track, and then need need ear plugs to drive home. Happy to meet up and let you have a go if you wish, I live in Herts.

I had a quick td in a v6e and found the interior disappointing and the build quality shocking o the demo car. Did go nicely though

Other than a GTR, I'm not sure there is anything at a vaguely reasonable price that is actually "mighty" on the track that wouldn't be very compromised off it - certainly not in the performance league of your Exige. A GT4 won't get anywhere near - faster than a GTS no doubt, but far from "mighty".Exige V6 is simply incredible on track, the 430bhp upgrade makes it faster on most tracks than GTRs and any GT3. There aren't many "low" priced alternatives - Faster Caterhams which ARE mighty (in lap times at least) are even more compromised on the road. Mind you, you can buy one which would be more than a match for even your Exige on track AND a trailer for less than £50k. Some Radicals are much faster again - but even more compromised as road cars, and not cheap either.
GTRs and Caterhams don't seem to appeal to many on this forum. Not entirely sure how much of that is image, rather than capability.

I think it must be the age thing, I want a car I can enjoy driving to and from the track. I trailored the Atom on long runs to Spa, the Exige is just awful until you get it onto the track, the big cars don't get tracked, I thought the GT4 would be the perfect compromise for me! I am also despoarate to scratch the GT car itch.

I have gone from a 300sc Ariel Atom, to an Exige V6, now hopefully into a GT4. Using a 997 turbo and CL65 AMG for my sensible cars at the moment.

How does the V6 stack up against GT3 RS on track?I think it must be the age thing, I want a car I can enjoy driving to and from the track. My Brother in Law has a 997 gen 2 RS, we track together, there are two buddies who join us each trip with 991 GT3s. The V6 (standard tune) on the grippier option tyres will keep up around the twisty bits, lose out slightly on acceleration, but be able to slightly out brake all 3 GT cars. Since the ex430bhp upgrade, it pulls out of corners slightly quicker than all 3 GT cars, and is quicker up to about 130mph, I have now fitted the Lotus upgrade brakes (floating disc racing option) which gives it even more of an edge under braking, and can do this without fade for a full tank of fuel.
With the 430bhp upgrade it is quicker than the RS on most tracks, but probably about the same at Spa and Silverstone which has the linger straights.
Hope that is helpful.

Any advice on how to get one from France or Germany? Cheers.
Ask DVLA --- I found them very helpful --- in fact, I think they do an importation pack.NewExigeS said:
I contacted about 30 EU Porsche main dealers Friday night, sent a email request for a RHD GT4, had about 8 come back and say they have slots but only LHD, one is not sure if he can get a RHD so is going to check tomorrow morning, but judging by the others I assume it to be another LHD only. Interestingly the guy said they used to be able to supply RHD cars a few years ago, and did indeed supply a few himself, but it sounds like this has changed for some reason.
I contacted a few OPC's in Germany, one of them via a German contact who apparently has good relations with Porsche. Unfortunately both said they cannot deliver a UK spec RHD Gt4 for delivery to the UK. The German guy I know said that demand for the car in Germany is very high, which may explain why they can't deliver on the RHD request. On a separate issue, does anyone know if you have to have an invite from Porsche should you want to get access to the stand and view the car close up? I'm planning to go but appears Porsche GB have run out of passes.

There definitely out of passes, I've been working on them the past 3 weeks via OPC. Not sure whether you need a pass to get up close though .
