GT4 buyers thread

Looks like reality is setting in over in Europe. Cayman R marketing strategy all over again. Fake scarcity around the launch and then increased allocations to the point where they couldn't move the cars without a very hefty discount.
I don't think it will be quite as bad with the GT4 but if the new 981/991 turbo engines are as strong as rumours suggest (up to 390 bhp for the 4-cylinder and let's face it, Porsche needs that kind of power to keep the cheap leasing A45/RS3/Golf Rs at bay) then we might be able to pick up some reasonably priced used GT4s in the near future.

Good word - reality. However, purchasing cars at this level is highly emotive and the tide has risen since the Cayman R days.I don't think it will be quite as bad with the GT4 but if the new 981/991 turbo engines are as strong as rumours suggest (up to 390 bhp for the 4-cylinder and let's face it, Porsche needs that kind of power to keep the cheap leasing A45/RS3/Golf Rs at bay) then we might be able to pick up some reasonably priced used GT4s in the near future.
If GT4's ar available at list already, I would be a bit nervous at those chasing the twice as expensive LHD 991RS. European appetite for new cars at 200k Euros - is it that strong, although only half as many cars as the GT4.
Plenty of 991 GT3's available - though volume was twice as much as the RS's.

Over here in the states, I just got my allocation from one of the lowest volume dealers in this part of the US. I was first in line, placing a deposit about 2 weeks prior to official announcement. September build, and likely a November delivery prior to Thanksgiving, but delivery could be as late as early December. Unbelievably stoked, though need to start thinking about selling my GTS.
Here's my spec. Anything I've missed, any comments......?

I've specced DAB but not PCM as I feel sat nav moves on far more quickly and phones have all the capability anyone really needs and are updated more often. DAB will be here for a while but other radio sources are likely to be cancelled lin the next few years.

Cheers for the heads up! I'm going to opt for PCM because I really like the way it integrates etc. the map updates from Porsche are typically very good as well. Will tick the DAB option now A rip off but worth looking at the climate control option, not sure what you get as standard, I think just manual control of aircon - worth checking with your dealer.
