GT4 buyers thread
Discussion
American buyer here, who took delivery of a GTS in late September (and had the first deposit for one in the entire US).
Might be first in line at both a non-Premier and at a Premier dealer here in the states. Looks like our allocation draws start in early March, with first deliveries expected in July. Our situation is 918 Spyder buyers (around 210 of them) got a letter and/or call last month asking if they wanted one -- their cars will pre-empt the rest of the US.

It is a lovely looking thing. Nice to see a lot of you guys going for the Clubsport option. when I was looking for. 997 GT3, it was surprising how many cars were specced with the carbon buckets and not the full club sport spec. Id have been happy to buy a non Clubbie as long as it had a cage and buckets but cars in club sport spec definitely seem to be more sought after for some reason.
Something that you guys might want to bear in mind.

Paid my deposit yesterday at about 9 am so fingers crossed. Present spec yellow ,standard interior and PCCB. Plenty of time to decide on final spec if lucky to be allocated a car.
Noticed on here a car has been ordered in Viper Green this would def be my choice if available? Having watched EVO video sounds as if standard steel brakes are well up to the job so might spend the £4,977 I would save by not having PCCB on other options. Seems alot of people are going for the expensive bucket seats. As has already been pointed out an axle lifting system should be an option.I do not intend to track the car so club sport option of no interest.

I did Europe in my 458 Spider last year. 8 countries in 10 days including loads of passes, some big, some very tight. I didnt bother speccing the lifter on that and didnt have any issues at all, including the ferries. Dunno if its as low as the GT4 will be though.
997.1 RS obviously no lift. Never had any problems with ferries or train. Just don't drive straight on and make sure you ask to be on the lorry deck. GT4 won't need lifthondansx said:
For my GT3 i got a rear camera fitted - all the tech is built into the PCM so it was a case of getting a small camera fitted. Not a biggy and it means you avoid ugly parking sensors
I'll be doing the same for the GT4.
That's interesting. Who did the work for you and how "OE" is it?I'll be doing the same for the GT4.

I wouldnt spec without clubsport however in my mind its easier to justify the money for the clubsport than it is for over 1k for an app and clock on the dash ill never use. Is that really all the sports chrono is?
Ive got the wart clock on the dash of my 997 RS and i can honestly say the only time its been touched is if someone asks why ive got a stupid looking clock stuck to the dash.

Its a shame that it isn't actually a clock that could tell the time - it would at least be partially useful. Wouldn't spec it on mine...Ive got the wart clock on the dash of my 997 RS and i can honestly say the only time its been touched is if someone asks why ive got a stupid looking clock stuck to the dash.

I think you may have a point mate. This is my first porsche so I'm ill advised with all the extras but i do remember reading somewhere that sports chrono increased 0-60 but I think this is just with PDK cars?Ive got the wart clock on the dash of my 997 RS and i can honestly say the only time its been touched is if someone asks why ive got a stupid looking clock stuck to the dash.

The one on the Cayman S is a basic clock as well so doesn't look so stupid.AdamV12V said:

I think they are correct - I understand that the depositor list is now vetted for speculators / "multi depositers" by Porsche UK. Then it's down to the dealer principle, once they know their allocation to choose who gets the cars. They may decide to give preference to customers who have bought new cars from them before, or who are locally based so there is a likelyhood of repeat business... just need to wait and see, hence i'm resisting the configurator for now.
Tks shaun. Worth noting my OPC said in order to have a chance of my order being processed id have to lodge a spec'd car then give them the code. could of course be utter bollllloxshaunRS said:

This is correct.......to a degree it doesn't matter where you are on the list of depositors......it is the DP who decides.....I secured a 991 GT3 ten months after the order books opened on the basis of regular repeat business from an OPC 120 miles away with no previous buying history from them btw.......
Sorry bit lost here . Regular repeat business but no previous buying history from them? SFO said:
