My car is a November 2012 - car - and I can only imagine that it has never been driven in cold temperatures with the foot well heating on for a long period.

The reason I say that is (the car is new to me) and I have spotted the issue after the first day of driving it in the cold.

I live down a road with a very gentle slope - which is very useful for coming home at 3am after a good blat in a car with a noisy exhaust - the brake 'stickiness' was so profound that I was unable to roll down my road and the car came to a complete halt after about 4 metres from 10 mph.

It would seem that if the foot well is kept cool - the problem goes away again.

Very peculiar.

Forgot to mention - Called my OPC and they are sending Porsche Assist to collect the car this morning and also Enterprise rent-a-car are delivering a Merc/BMW whilst mine is being investigated/fixed.

So far, excellent service - I will post back with what they find/resolve.

Any list of recall numbers?
I've seen some for 981 such as WD05 WD16 WE02, not sure what they relate to though.

Cheers

Does it only really afflict the Boxster? On the Cayman you are unlikely to have the heater on full blast for long periods, but much more likely on a Boxster driven with the top down on a chilly day.

Nothing to do with the heater imvho? Mine is a Cayman, only gets used on short journeys and the heating is never on full blast, just set at 21.

I thought it was related to Heat in general. Mine does it on Hot days where the car has been parked outside in the sun. I understood the bushing on the brake pedal would get sticky when warm and therefore prevent the brake pedal from returning to its upward position. Therefore causing the brakes to stay on. I would have to use my toes to pull the pedal back up after braking.

There is nothing on the Government website other than the one for the bonnet latch which affect a few vehicles in mid 2014

I have a decode for these 3 'Campaigns' (Porsche speak):
WD05 - Retrofit spacer on clutch line
WD16 - Re-program rear end electronics control unit
WE02 - Re-program instrument cluster

My new (2013) Boxster has had these 3 done but no campaign for brakes. I've been out in the freezing cold today with the heater on full blast and its been fine.

This thread explains WE02, but I'm not sure what WD05 and WD16 actual entailed. Anybody know?

Pedal bushes are not covered by any campaigns.

The bushes were modified; if the car is under Warranty they will be replaced FOC; no Warranty then the cost is chargeable.

Just a quick update on this. My OPC sent a flatbed truck to my home to pick up my Boxster. They also arranged for a replacement car to be delivered.

They are replacing the 'pin and bush' as part of the fix that makes the brake pedal stick free of charge under my warranty.

An excellent service so far and glad I have a warranty.

Car should be back tomorrow.

Would that include extended warranty?, what year were the bushes upgraded?

If it helps, my car is under extended warranty - the manufacturers warranty ran out a while ago. smile

I had the same problem on my 2013 991 Turbo S 100 miles after picking it up from purchase. Dashboard lit up and the brakes started dragging. Phoned Porsche assist, they passed us onto RAC to arrange recovery. Porsche replaced the bush under warranty.

Once again PH provides an answer.

We have a 981 Boxster S which we purchased new in May 2013. It has now done 7,500 miles all of which were done in summer weather - until this week. I decided that as the car hadn't been out since the summer I would use it this week. I have spent the last two days convinced that the brakes were sticking on, after I released the pedal. It seems that this is not an uncommon problem caused by a "sticky" pedal bush which is worse when the heaters are on.

I will now be able to talk knowledgeably to my OPC and hope that they cover the cost of repair even though the car is now out of warranty. It appears to be a known fault.

I doubt it but let us know how you get on. All posters above who have had replacement bushes either have manu warranty or extended warranty.

Just so some people know.
Mine is Cayman 981 2.7
Not had any of these problems.
Registration date 31.07.2014
No recalls on the Porsche web site.

Lots of info on American sites concerning PSM and adjustment of brake switch.
Planet 9 forum, well worth looking at.

My Nov 2012 981B brake pedal bush was replaced last year under my extended warranty. Under the same extended warranty, the "sticking" heater/AC blower fan was also replaced.

Both were dealt with by Porsche Tonbridge very efficiently and without reference to the insurance company writing the policy.
