do you understand that these slots are by definition only for LHD vehicles? is that your consistent feedback from all of these dealers?

Not exactly a big shock to me... as I posted here, 3rd posting on the page:

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

And then there's the new Spyder coming out soon which sort of targets a similar audience as the GT4.

It's just the RHD allocation that's all wonky.

Yes, which is why i included it in the title of the topic. I must admit i was hopeful of getting a RHD car from the EU before i set off looking, but it is now clear that this is not possible. There are a lot of slots out there though if you dont mind LHD.

Won't most people want to track a GT4 and this also be its primary use rather than a daily driver? therefore how much of an issue would be getting a LHD version?

Most circuits run clockwise, so there's a benefit to a RHD car. wink

I personally have only ever driven a left hand gear change on track, so trying to change gear with my right hand, at speed, around high speed corners, will spoil the experience. I need a RHD car.

Yes, or PDK, but Porsche take that choice away on GT cars now. Its their way or no way.

Further to that, with the GT3 there was an advantage to LHD (in that it has a 90 litre fuel tank for more playtime between fillings) which simply isn't there with the GT4 (which in all cases actually has a smaller tank than even a normal Cayman unless the buyer ticks the correct box). If you wanted a LHD car for track use, the 997.2 GT3 remains available on the continent for less that GT4 money too, so as a use case it is weak.

I still think that most of the GT4 market is people who want the badge or "top of the range" status anyway though. I don't anticipate many buyers even opting for Clubsport spec, let alone actually having shims put in those split lower suspension arms for a track friendly amount of camber in their geo setup.

They should have made it Clubsport only and offered the 3.8 engine as an X51 powerkit option (with 3.8 badging naturally) on the GTS IMHO - then this mess probably wouldn't have happened.

Since the guy was Porsche Exclusive, did you at least try replying and saying that you wanted a C16 specification car with paint to sample with a non-standard stitching colour and that you did not have faith in Porsche GB to meet your requirements? Making it a Werk 1 order for late delivery might be a way of tempting them to play ball?

I know of one guy who had a GTS order pending but switched to the GT4 mainly because of the far shorter delivery time, relatively small surcharge and additional power. He specced it as a comfort car with Sports seats, PCM and lots of interior trim. I'm 100% sure he'll throw it back on the market once he figures out that it's not a very good year-round daily driver... in winter... in the alps.

I know it's irrelevant as LHD but had another 2 EU dealers come back this morning with GT4 slots still available for this years allocation, feel pretty gutted that they cannot sell the thing in the EU while the UK is fighting for scraps.

Dont worry, theres rumours of a depression coming so im sure RHD models will come available. It would appear alot of 'owners' are speccing the car for the next owner so im sure if you ask several nicely, theyll spec it for you.

Alternatively, just wait for HappyD to realise the gearing is to long and suspension to firm for his B-road blasts and buy his after 6 months.

Had an email today from Italy asking if I still wanted a car, they have still not sold all their slots. Gutted to hear this when the UK market has turned into carnage.
