my question is, will it put others off when i come to change the car? opinions pls

Do it!
Who cares about resale, non-enthusiasts who don't rev the car probably won't notice and enthusiasts will love the sound and will know that Carnewal's work is highly regarded.

It's a must if you have a standard exhaust IMO.

Is it a one-mand-band affair with Carnewal? Always associated them with parts/sales rather than workshop services.

Yes, but Gert really knows his stuff. Check out his facebook page for work he's done, including this onewink

He fitted my exhaust for free, was actually cheaper to go there (well with the Tesco Eurotunnel vouchers) than to get it shipped and fitted here.

If you're worried about resale, keep a lookout for a standard used exhaust to swap back at sale time if necessary. You could easily sell the Carnewal to more than cover the cost. I picked up a used standard system for my Cayman S for £40 From a local seller on ebay.

Do it.

As others have said - high quality work from Gert, in lovely surroundings.

Had my Cayman S and 993 exhaust done by him as well as some other stuff. Will probably get my 996 Turbo done there also

Have to agree. So picking up a secondhand standard exhaust on ebay seems like a good idea.

Very nice car.
Free fitment though, how does that work? If its free of course it will be cheaper than the UK biggrin

Was it a day trip or did you stay over? Seems like its in the middle of nowhere... though many seem to make the journey!!

Well he just offers to fit it for free. However my clamps were all rusted so paid extra to get those replaced. He did use genuine parts (at cost price) and extra labour charge was €54 an hour so still very reasonable!

It's about 2 hours from Calais, so not really that far. Although depends where in the UK you live obviously.
Went for a weekend, have some friends in Belgium so paid them a visit, also picked up a lot of Belgian beer so trip was worthwhile! beer

Thanks beer sounds worthwhile then. Maybe for a long weekend as you say. Will look at how the numbers stack up taking into accommodation, car hire maybe, etc.

Car hire? Would you not just drive your own car there and get the exhaust fitted?

For when more extensive work is needed/booked in and you want to explore the area whilst he carries the work out

You mean me? It's a 996 C4S, could you not tell from the picture? smile

I don't think you can tell when driving normally, it's very quiet around town and not droney at all on the motorway. But at high revs or under heavy acceleration it really opens up ears

You can't tell visually, it's just standard boxes which have been internally modified.

Mine goes to Gurt 9th June, one day before Le Mans, killing two birds with one stone.

I've got the Carnewal exhaust which uses a Cayman R backbox. I assume this is slightly louder than the normal Carnewal GT exhaust.

I was worried about the noise test on my first track day after fitting it, but it passed easily.

I can't remember the exact figure, but it was under 100 dB.

Gert can give you a price for a non-exchange price so you can keep your original exhaust (assuming you can fit it in your car or get it sent back) so you can always put it back to std. for resale

Didn't give me that option last week.
