I have a rarely used 987 I have owned since new in 2006. It has done c. 12k miles but has been off the road in my garage for the last 3 years due to working and family issues. It has been on a battery conditioner and started every 6 months or so.

I now want to get it back on the road - it was an early top spec'd 3.4 with PASM. What would you recommend apart from a service for putting it back on the road - and perhaps a new set of tyres!

Also is was always serviced my a main dealer - pointless for a nine year old car so any recommendations for a good Indie in Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire?

Thanks in advance

RPM are a good Indy not too far away. But do get a quote from OPC Silverstone and Cambridge as they may be competitive. My 2008 RS60 is always serviced at the opc and I change the oil every 6-12 months. Then again mine has 58k motorway miles Bedford to London.

I'm not best placed to answer your question as mine gets used a lot more than yours smile However I would probably get the dealer to give the car a good once over based on the situation and replace tyres (Michelin Super sports are amazing) and fluids - oil change, brake fluid change, coolant, etc. Roof mechanism could do with some lubricant too. Oh and change the battery for a Bosch S5 if required.

As above. New fluids, good check over and tyres. Then drive it!

Just as a matter of interest have you found the ride to be harsher on the Pilot Super Sports? I've got the same car as you and changed from Bridgestones to PSS first thing I noticed was how much quieter at 70 the car was. I SORN'd the car straight after changing the tyres but have been using it recently and I'm sure the ride is harsher.

Interesting comment because I did actually find the ride hard and even took it to RPM to get the suspension checked as I thought something was wrong. But no it was the new tyres - it took over 1000 miles before they were bedded in properly and since then they have been sublime, sticking to the road like glue in wet or dry above 1 degree.

I'd better get some miles in then, may be good advice for anyone considering PSS in the future.

The A/C might need also need a service if it hasn't been used for a few years.
