Now driven 1,000 miles in our Boxster GTS, and although still observing the running in recommendations I never tire of the wonderful sound the car makes. We finish work early on Fridays in Portsmouth so for an aural treat I headed up the A3 and did the full surround sound thing in the Hindhead Tunnel (mindful of the 70 mph SPECS average speed cameras of course)... what a sound!!!!!Slowed to around 20 mph on entering the tunnel - thankfully traffic quite light - then up to 5,000 rpm first and second, back down and do it all over again.... out of the tunnel, off the A3 just north and then back through again...

The Cayman GTS might be marginally better handling and have + 10bhp over the Boxster but my God do they ever miss out on the sound!

Will I ever grow up? Hopefully not!!

Little point in you buying a Boxster or Cayman GTS then - you wouldn't appreciate it as it would be far too uncouth for you. As for me I think it's one of the finest sounding modern cars out there. Sports cars aren't supposed to sound like muffled vacuum cleaners.

Agree!! Put me off buying the V8R... A good V8 doesn't need trickery!

Apologies for the bang and splutter of 4 posts in a row wink

Just read this whole thread and loved it.

Seems Porsche engineering in nice sounds for us never to grow up 'lads' is actually an abortion of engineering... hopefully they'll abort some more things that we'll enjoy!

Sadly no tunnels in Guernsey, but there is a nice long hill with high granite walls that works quite well smile

One day, maybe, I could get bored.

At the moment, every journey is so special. Every week end after some proper driving I've got the exhaust sound rounding into my mind and every time I am astonished.

The PSE was one of the main reasons for me getting the GTS. It never gets boring and it puts a grin on my face each drive.

Do yourself a favour - next time you come across to the mainland take the conventional ferry to Portsmouth (more chance of getting there with all the problems Condor are having with their "new" Condor Liberation)Hindhead Tunnel is only 30 miles from Portsmouth straight up the A3. 1.5 miles of surround sound bliss!

I shall give it a go! smile

I prefer the conventional ferry as they don't cram the cars in so far less risk of damage.

Seems the 'Liberation' is far from liberated on the car deck and is in fact as tight, if not tighter for space (sounds unbelievable I know) than the ferries it replaces...

Condor Express and Vitesse well past their sell by dates - I used to dry dock those things in Portsmouth!
