Hi all,

Wondering if anyone else has had the same problem.

A friend of mine has a 986 Boxster 2.7 and the battery went flat due to lack of use. The bonnet (front end for clarification) now won't open on the switch but does open when you have the jump pack connected to the fuse box terminal and door earthing point. My initial thought was this might be the switch itself but it works fine with the jump pack connected.

I was wondering if there is a fuse or something that the jumping process bypasses? His fuse box cover lid is missing and there is no guide to which fuse does what. Googling doesn't bring up any bonnet (or boot) release fuse so I'm really at a loss as to what it could be?

If anyone has any idea please let me know!

Thanks,

James

No but he's just told me the battery is nearly 4 years old so we are going to replace that and see what happens.

Some battery maintainers like some Ctecs do not charge the battery if the battery is already below a threshold point (around 8v IIRC). So if the battery is bad or just discharged, connecting the Ctec does no good at all no matter the time you leave it connected.

Test the battery voltage, load test the battery, even swap out a friends battery to see if it is the battery.
