This looks amazing.
Thanks Phooey for launching what to me is the "thread of the year". Loads of great pictures and no talk about depreciation
Pleasure Dr S. It's been quite fun searching 'images' of the GT4 on the net whilst i wait for my car Thanks Phooey for launching what to me is the "thread of the year". Loads of great pictures and no talk about depreciation
Only problem I have had is everyday I change the colour of MY car
For those that went for Carrara White Metallic, what made you choose this over standard/flat white?
Love Guards, but never quite looks as vibrant in the flesh, slightly orange in the sun but still considering. Has anyone actually seen a red GT4 in person? Have only seen on Cayman S.
Colour choice is driving me nuts! Was never this difficult on my old Spyder

I had the same problem it was either black red or white so I started with jet black for a few months then considered GR about a month ago but ended up with CWM after looking at 981 caymans in the flesh.i had flat white on my spyder but decided it does not suit the gt4 as per one I saw at PEC .after looking at many pics I choose cwm because white is a gt colour and cwm has more going on in different light than flat white !But until I see a car in the flesh will I know if I made the right choice!Love Guards, but never quite looks as vibrant in the flesh, slightly orange in the sun but still considering. Agree the flat white PEC car looked drab but imo the dark wheels didn't help.....platinum wheels look much better as in the above photo.CWM looks good but some think it can look cream in the typical UK dull light.Imo £550 could be spent on better looking metallics.
But the car looks great in any colour.

I have also changed from Guards to white having seen other Caymans in red. Went for flat white over Carrara as I looked at 2 cars at the OPC side by side and could honestly see no real difference between the 2 whites. Also non'metallic white easier to paint match for repairs?Love Guards, but never quite looks as vibrant in the flesh, slightly orange in the sun but still considering. Thanks for all your input gents & for empathising with my insanity.
So ..... today I was lucky enough to see a Guards Red GT4 in the flesh. Did look fantastic and it's new owner will be ecstatic on Monday. I could still see the orangey tints, but very striking. Would have preferred it with platinum or black wheels, but all personal choice.
OK .... this particular car might have given the colour a bit of a boost (!), but I thought the flat white really popped for me. Managed to see the white from multiple angles/shades as the side of the car was facing the window (although this pic is from wrong angle) .
The extra light near the window helped as the white PEC car was positioned in the least flattering possible way. Agree, the black wheels didn't help either.
Also did a paint sample comparison against CWM & the 918. I thought CWM was very nice and could definitely see the metallic fleck on another car outside. But it's not an obvious difference unless you go looking for it. Hmmmm...
... but like the rest of you, I don't think you can make a wrong decision. The car simply looks stunning in any colour. I hope the pics above don't give anyone a headache!! Wanting to help rather than hinder ... haha!!!

Boooooooooooossssttttt!!You see, with pics like that is is impossible to argue against Agate. But in real life, when you don't have perfect light, it just looks a bit muddy and dull To me, at least.
If the car looked like that all the time, I'd have specced it in a heartbeat. In reality, the cars outside the OPC on the day I went in to spec our car didn't look ANYTHING like that. So we didn't.

I wanted red, but like a few people have said already, I was concerned about the orange tinge Guards has, so I ordered mine in Carmine Red, with the Titanium wheels, I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
Lovely. Really lovely. Great choice. Enjoy.Edited by NAS90 on Sunday 13th September 03:59
I've been through the whole range of color options and combinations and for a change have gone GR now with titanium wheels as I'm not sure satin doesn't look too dull. Will consider gloss once I've taken delivery but I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any colour . The flippers colour seems to be white I've noticed though
