The Cayman will get traction eventually because its a great car. Thing with the R is that theres the GTS and the GT4 which now would appear to be a none limited run car. Values are good, better that buying a beemer or something. At least they arent really depreciating.

Has anyone seen the price of 968 CS's? Mental and also its worth noting that the 964 RS is almost identical to the C2 but with 10bhp more and a few less bits. The price new was about £10 difference (correct me if I am wrong) and its getting on for 4 times the price of a C2. The Cayman isn't loved like the 911 but it could do well at some point. I will have sold by then though!

Its so hard to know what will happen. I suppose we should all not worry about values and enjoy our cars but it is hard, me included when there is this possibility that your car isn't going to lose money and might actually start to gain.
God I've lost thousands of pounds (haven't we all) on cars over my 20 plus years of driving so I think for me its a bloody novelty that I'm not losing st loads again with this purchase. Ive just bought a new Cayenne so you could say that I haven't learned my lesson! Its only fking money! ahhh

I just wanted to add as well that i want a 991 GT3 next and I am hoping to god that they come down to about 100k as I'll be (in the VERY lucky and work hard) position to have one. I keep telling myself that I'd keep it forever but I'll probably sell it after a year and get something else.

Does anyone know of any therapy or pills that I can take to help with my addition to cars!?

Exactly, if I get back exactly what I paid for my car when I sell it I'd be over the moon, better than having money in the bank!!

I didn't buy it thinking it would go up, I assumed a loss of £3k or £4k per year!! smile

While all that is true, and the same could be said of old Ferraris - the (old) 12 cylinder cars have appreciated more than the 6 or 8 cylinder ones. But the fastest appreciating Ferrari (percentage-wise) at the moment is the Dino 246. So eventually the market can start to see value in the "lesser" models if only because the more favoured ones have priced themselves beyond the reach of many. As Fokker says relatively rare models like the 968Cs are appreciating. That car, very much like the R, didn't sell well when it was new, is now appreciating - probably as much for its scarcity as anything else. So I think there is hope for the rarer Caysters over the longer term.

Yep CR is a long term possibility for decent growth and a present financially good decision if you care about the money side. Its also cracking car to drive!
People are already talking down the GT4 in some respects, the long gearing, non GT dept engine etc.

I think it'll do exactly as the CR has done also the new Spyder will do exactly the same as the old one. It'll depreciate a bit and stay there for quite a long time.
Just because it has a GT badge doesn't grant it access to the hearts of the faithful die hards (plus its not a 911). I am sure its a great car, probably an amazing car to drive but however you look at it, its all been about the engine previously.. The Metzger, the new 991 unit is meant to be amazing whereas the GT4 has a Carrera S unit. Its just not special enough.

The gt4 has the same engine as the 991 (carrera s) with ecu restriction!but are you talking about the 991 gt3 engine that has tendency to implode which is not a patch on the mezger of 996/7 gt3!

I know the metzger's special. Wasn't aware of imploding 991 gt3 units? Tell me more!
They had the recall issue, is that what you're referring to?

Just back form holiday and wondered if anyone had seen or bought the Porsche Aberdeen Cayman R that was on sale while I was away. It may not have even made it onto the website as my colleague who told me about it happened to be in when they'd just taken it. He actually test drove it. It was a PDK peridot car with just about every option you could possibly spec, correct seats and wheels, PCM, SS, PSE, red belts etc etc. Apparently it was going to be advertised at £46K with around 11k miles. My work mate text me about it on the day he saw it and then next afternoon when I looked online there was no sign of it so it maybe never reached the site.
This one?

That's the one. They must just have been slow getting it on the site. It needed a little prep as the front bumper was scuffed I am told.

seems a much more competitive price than the normal OPC mark-ups. Not high mileage and Looks nice in dark blue too.

Odd that it has so many options fitted but no Xenons.

But then mine has Xenons and no AC - each to their own :-)

And mine has Climate and xenons smile

That does seem really cheap - I was going to put mine up for a private sale for not much less than that with more miles too :s

Would consider any to buy in for the business but for me needs to be a white PDK all the usual options and 20-25k on the clock. Drop me a line anyone of selling.

And as for the market I'll be the one advising about that as I appear to have done quite successfully in my relatively brief period in it.

Whos boasting? Its my job. If I lost money on a car I'd take myself off to the woods and shoot myself! And I dont keep mentioning it.

My primary interest in the Cayman is as an enthusiast not in my professional capacity. If I got one that wasnt quite the right spec it could be moved on. If its right it will have a more permanent slot on the fleet.
