Hi Neil hope you're well ? The two piece 996 items are £650 a pair and the inner sections are currently on back order as I understand it.
Hi Henry, Well indeed thanks. What about you?
Thanks for the follow up. No huge shift from when I last saw a price for them and a load cheaper than the 997 version of the same thing.

It's got cup holders, think of all that extra weight blunting the performance wink

Lovely colour though. Would have thought it is the only one in the UK.

It is the only one in the UK in that colour and one of only 4/5 in the world. I enquired about the car two weeks ago as a 40th birthday present for my wife and would have bought it had she not made me buy her a £20k Z4 2.0i instead.

The Z4 might be half the price but it's not even quarter of the car the R is. Oh well at least the wife's happy.

Pretty much the only thing I don't like about my R is the lack of cup holders, I've driven it on a few long trips and it's annoying having nowhere to put a drink - I get the weight saving thing and the gimmicky weight loss stuff looks good on the car but I just can't see the logic in not having these on a road car.

Cheers, although you'd also need the cup holder version of the colour coded front section, which I'd imagine will be megabucks. My plan B is to buy a plastic tub that will fill the passenger footwell and be an integrated bin for the empty drinks, much cheaper.

Don't be spending to much on it . There's a lovely R coming up soon I hear ;-) .

GT4 spec and build slot loaded on Friday . Sept delivery pending delays . Might try to keep both in light of what happened with the 991 GT3 , but hoping the GT4 will be more the car for me than the 3 turned out to be .........

Does not look like it, I do miss it as I use my R as a daily and buy a coffee now and again.

Just never got round to fitting one.

Spoke to a suspension guru he told me dont even think of going -2 or -2.5 camber if you are going to drive on the Nurburgring you will be left for dead with that much camber on the long straights etc, its not drivable.

makes you think. -1 to -1.2 is optimal he said. Maybe Porsche were onto something when they built the car? hehe

I am in conversation with my indy about geo at the moment and have been warned against listening to too much on the internet about 'all you need to do is max the camber', the reason being there are many other variables to take into account and set up needs can be different between different drivers even if they use the car for the same purpose. Funnily enough I am being steered toward 'just' -1 degree up front as being more than sufficient for a fast road occasional track day user.

A 986 at least is perfectly drive able with -2 camber. Ok it's different when wet but I rarely drive my car with any gusto in those conditions. As usual it depends on your driving style and roads. If your car is a daily with lots of motorway and an annual ring or track day trip then -2.5 might be more of a pain as you may rarely get to use it hard enough to benefit. -2 all round on mine seems fine for Euro trips. You could even go a bit more if you want to be even more committed in the hairpins in the Alps.

The other thing to bear in mind when saying just -1 up front is that you have to take the geo at the rear into account. You will probably find that the rear is already at -1.5 or thereabouts so with just -1 up front you have a pretty standard spec geo with an understeer balance. If you get some adjustable rear toe links you can dial out some rear camber and have more up front which shifts the balance so you have a more oversteer biased set up. For ring novices though that's possibly not the way you want it.

I've done largely what you all frown at MrD for doing and 'maxed out' the front camber by drilling the top mount turret slot. The toe is also adjusted but with standard components you can do next to nothing about the castor anyway.
