I've finally found some side bolster protectors, ordered them and will post up when they arrive to feedback on quality (I suspect they are not genuine Recaro)

Come in red too.
They look decent. I have similar on another car.

Although, I'm wondering how the front fits to the seat? The rear section loops under the seat belt hole. But what does the front bit do?
I don't know, i'll post up my findings when they arrive...hopefully they will actually fit!

There is a diagram in the auction listing. The front strap just goes under the cushion

Its time for me to replace my front discs and pads. I want to stay OE as still within warranty, can anyone advise if these are ok:

http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt66_911_-cma81-cmo1...

It says OE Quality but I just wanted to be sure...or if anyone has any other recommendations I would be grateful.

Thanks

I think the R has 997 discs and pads, i could be wrong though. Just something the parts guy at the OPC checked when I inquired.

Correct.
Hence why PCCB is amazing on the platform, 350mm disk, 6 pots, custom MC and booster.
Calipers are 996 gt3 units as it happens.

If I needed new disks for steels I would upsize to 911 disks and fit a spacer 340mm vs 330mm.

PCCB you can fit cayenne disks or brembo 2 piece. But now you can get PCCB resurfaced it's all good.

Hence I said you were correct :-) the R is crying out for 6 pots IMO but rs29 and 340mm 2 piece are loads better than oem.

But you really need to be looking at buying hubs and 996 gt3 calipers for it. ESP if tuning for more power.

I don't call 6 pots flashy, you get double the pad area my 2 cars are night and day in braking performance.

David, what calipers and discs are the R running - just for clarification.

The question was raised on Planet9 and they seemed to think there was a difference in the pad compound and resulting in less fade with R pads. There is a different part number so I wonder if thats true or not.

So if you were to buy the exact same discs and pads and changed them over yourself, you wouldn't invalidate a warranty?

Is there no way for them to check the work hasn't been done by them? Part number bar code scans etc?

a 111 check is not that indepth.

my rear pads were some non branded copy pad and my car was OPC bought.

I bought some RS29's (not fitted them as yet) and was told they are the same for both 'R' and 'S' from Pagid.

The compound on the pad from OPC may explain why they have different part no's?

as they cannot see the back of the pads they don't even do that, as I said my car had china copy pads in the rear when I went to fit RS29, they had all cracked and were US.

A 111 point check is very very basic, ie switchs, tyres, oil leaks, a quick test and a road test, that's it. there is a section for battery and if it's after market lol.
And of course a section for N spec tyres and N numbers.

they would NOT know what pads or disks you had fitted, just a tick for "if more than 50% worn.

show me the photo, you need xray vision to see the stickers on a pad, as I said my car came with some china based rear pattern part, they are never going to check stamped in metal part numbers and depending who's pad is in it they will all be different, people are reading in way to much for a 111 check.
