Dan - did you get the clear engine cover ? Any pics .

I'm back in an R from Tuesday as GT4 looking less and less likely to be a 2015 car . I liked the sound of the cover .
I did..

I must post a picture up.

(Used the car for the second time from when I collected it from you, weekend before last. Be getting her out of storage mid April)

Plans for her -
Brought some RS29's which I must get fitted
Need to get an ipod lead fitted (OPC £429)
Alps trip in July

I hear people talking of a short Shift, which I must look into too..

Im going Cup 2, they are a generation ahead of the PSS. A bit worse in the wet ( but not lethal unlike Cup 1, you can easily keep up with traffic etc) , but ALOT faster in the dry once up to temp. Threadwear 180, impressive. Stiffer sidewalls so a bit rougher ride though.

Re shortshift, get the 997.2 GT3 RS one not the 997 shortshifter. Its like a riflebolt. Im getting it fitted.

You wouldn't happen to have a part number?

The RS one is a longer throw but better bushing, depends what you want.

I like the shorter throw better on the 997.2 part.

Didn't think of that. Has an OPC quoted to fit the part? The std SS kit is about £400 all in but I'd like the rifle bolt feel better! Cup cables are around £600 all in, which give incredible precision.

I've not had a quote as yet. The vehicle is under warranty till end of next year so need to check which will not affect the warranty.

I take it you guys have tried these also ;-) "which give incredible precision." ?

best thing for gear change is engine mounts to stop it moving about, that aids shifting and gives you the precision !

cup cable are not going to bring much to the party imo esp if your gearbox is moving about !!!

the cup cable are about overall durability, strength, and longevity. A cable is a cable, just the ends break on the standard one because it's plastic.

if you want to fit a shifter and like the idea of it not being plastic, the RS one is still plastic just metal bush, but sadly that longer throw.

fit one of these, but as stated all pointless if your gear box is moving under braking and direction changes.

all these things work together,
ie like having a map but still keeping the manafolds !
or like fitting the MC but keeping the brake booster !
or like fitting cup cables but not engine mounts !

you have to plan mods and look at the whole system.

Yes I have tried it, unlike you I don't regurgitate stuff I read from a mag as if it was my own experience. If you're changing the manifolds, then you should also do a remap but you can do a remap on its own, no it won't give as much power but Cargraphics stage one tune is a remap and sports filter and as they are a business which modifies cars and not some IT numpty on the Internet, guess what? I think their view is more valuable than yours. Have you actually modded the brake booster on either of your twins, has it given you what you were looking for? Also I've already said that if I felt after the MC mod that the brakes were still lacking, then yes I'd do the booster too! Since when do you have make all mods in one go?

He will tell you more than that, Axel. He will describe the bear to you too, although this will be derived from text written in national geographic, not through actually having seen or heard a bear wink

I have the oem ssk on my 987.1 S and the shorter throw is really how the cars should come as standard imo. As far as i remember the numeric 'cup' style cables are made of metal whereas the stock cables are nylon to reduce vibration. I am going to fit wevo transmission mounts next (keeping the engine mount stock..), followed by the numeric cables but am doing it in stages so i can gauge each change as i go. Every review i have read says the cup style cables give more direct feel and are well worth doing especially as the stock cables are prone to break and/or jump out of the gearbox side mounts.

The cables and transmission mounts are the last bits of modding I'm doing as i feel I'm reaching a point where I'm in danger of overly compromising what is supposed to be a mainly road car, not to mention the money I've spent. Last weekend i fitted rs29 pads and now every time i brake the squeal is deafening, very embarrassing in sainsbury! I realise the labour cost is high for the cables but i had a read of the numeric cable install instructions and I'm not brave enough to have a go at fitting them myself, especially as i have no garage so have to work in the street.

I'm not sure about the Pagid blacks but I believe that yellows can be. My EBC yellows were squeaky when I first got them but are quiet when cold, squeaky when warm, probably horribly so on track, I'll let you know next month!

Still never have a problem going to and from Sainsbury's.

Ehresmann don't have a website yet. Have you decided what you're going to get done?

What sort of cost and BHP gains will that give the R?
