I drive my mates 987.2 car , it's a great car, but the R has that magic about it. Cheap shock it may have, but they bloody got them spot on.

Are you at the LOT day at Donny next week ? I'll be driving there.

No Only managed Cadwell this year to my shame. Should get out and about a bit after the summer I hope. Might give me change to fix the Elise.

I like Lotus, had 2 of them Elise and Exige, nice toys for £30k nothing more. and sadly nothing new from them to excite esp at their pricing !!!
Pick of the range is the 2nd hand Elise Club racer at £28k imo, a great car for fun.

I'll await to see what the Exige 400 brings, but imo they need a new car not a rehash or a auto or a soft top or a SD.

Steady on there Ray, we're trying to create a myth here and posters bashing values or pointing out that we're comparing a 20 year old underpowered 4 wheeled kettle isn't helping. All we need now is some buffoon to come along with a GT3 trace and it's curtains!

After that I wrote, "In that regard I'm having to learn my craft again as the R won't just set into a corner like the C4 does. It has all 330hp in the rear tyres and wants to dance, whereas the C4 has half that in the rears, plus the front tyres pulling. As I wrote, there's another 3 seconds to come yet, which will come from braking later and carrying more speed through corners"

If you think that makes me a self described Muppet in the R then you're entitled to your opinion. FWIW I spent the other half of the day racing in our teams 21 year old 2k cup Integra and beat the best time by 0.77 seconds so I don't consider myself slow.

Talking of track days - open pitlane day at Bedford GT circuit on November 14th. It was only £99, which is a bargain for a Saturday, £129 now.

I'll be there, and possibly cmoose if he gets himself in gear and books it :-)

I've done a day there in November for the past three years and it's been dry and cool - ideal conditions. Can't guarantee the weather of course, but hopefully the trend will continue.

Would be good to see a few more Caymans there!

The gentleman in the prancing pony was, shall we say, taking it easy.

Fair play to him though, it's not often you see someone take their new 458 near a track, and I imagine he was having to short shift most of the time not to trip the noise sensors.

That said, I don't tend to properly rag my car either - it's about being able to let it off the leash, take it to the redline and enjoy the flow through the corners. Not really bothered about lap times or seconds gained/lost around any particular circuit.

That car was up for sale with a dealer a few months ago (same pictures!!) was listed at £39,999............

That is such a cool pic. I'm hoping to get along to Howfast with the Cayman this autumn, I found that more enjoyable than an open pit lane day, less wear on the car and some laps with no one around you against the clock, great fun

Bedford is a pretty decent length track, so I rarely find that it backs up on an open pitlane day. I'm always a little scared of How Fast days, since I imagine I'll end up pushing a lot harder than I usually would, knowing that I'm up against the clock :-)
